It’s even dumber when you compare it to other racial and ethnic groups. Blacks didn’t respond that differently to others.
I actually did used to like Dilbert - about 15-20 years back. But it was always a tad too cynical - Dogbert was an early warning sign. It's not like Calvin and Hobbes have suddenly gone out in white hoods with flaming crosses.
I looked into it this morning, Rasmussen was originally asking about it in response to the news that the ADL had labelled the phrase as hate speech. It's a bit awkward to call a phrase hate speech when three quarters of Americans agree with it, according to their polling. *For what it's worth, I think there should be a firm distinction between "hate speech" and "dog whistles." Conflating the two only helps trolls and people actually engaging in hate speech.
The guy is a multi-multimillionaire who would have been best suited to either continue or eventually end his comic. It appears he’s had a MAGA-induced hysteria come over him, so that’s a shame.
That's part of it, but he's also lived long enough to become the villain. The Dilbert strips have been sympathizing a lot more with the pointy haired boss over the last few years.
Oh no, I'm sorry to have to break the news to you on that one https://hindupost.in/society-cultur...ality-behind-charles-dickens-literary-genius/ That aside, I agree with the bigger point that imperfect representation is still better than not trying at all, a fact I thought Tererun of all people would understand after shilling for Netflix keeping Chapelle on the payroll because of the three gay shows a year they greenlight before cancelling after one season.
I've been somewhat hard on Thirteens era, but in retrospect maybe there were a lot of beloved British historical figures she couldn't visit safely with Ryan and Yaz coming along.
Basically, 53% took the statement at face value, 26% were aware that it was actively being used as a white supremacist dogwhistle along the lines of "All Lives Matter," and 21% said "what the fuck kind of question is that?"
So he's been saying bonkers shit for a while but all the articles that keep coming up make this seem like his first offense. Are they just ignoring the lead up and history?
I wonder if he had grown tired of the Dilbert mindset and wanted to go full podcast CHUD and this was a great way to milk the fame for his comic for podcast viewers and get out of some contracted obligations. It seems he might have been switching to defending the evil characters he used to mock, and that might have been getting him some complaints and losing some customers for his comic. This would be a great way to play victim CHUD and give the finger to the "woke" fans while gaining views and donations from the the CHUD fans who will worship him for his courage to be racist.
The Pointy Haired Boss. In this case, Dilbert's boss. The PHB represented every mid-level to upper-level management boss who had no practical knowledge of anything, and always outsourced any problem to their underlings without understanding, at all, the level of work involved while expecting quick, positive results. Oh absolutely. You can make a lot of money being canceled by the "woke" agenda.
Apparently Robot Chicken called this out a while ago. https://twitter.com/inspectornerd/status/1630399558437187585
"Still no disagreement about my point of view" he says, as though he's getting cancelled because everyone agrees with him.
Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the fuck away,” Adams said. “Wherever you have to go, just get away. Because there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed. So I don’t think it makes any sense as a white citizen of America to try to help Black citizens anymore. It doesn’t make sense. There’s no longer a rational impulse. So I’m going to back off on being helpful to Black America because it doesn’t seem like it pays off.
Yeah, an authoritarian racist with a grievance complex who's called for violence, that could be anything.
He's trying to make out they are only dumping his sorry ass because it'll hurt their profits, not that they actually think racism is bad. They secretly agree with him, you see. Most white folk do - they're just scared to admit it because it'll hurt their bottom line.
I have no doubt that many of the C-level execs probably DO agree with his worldviews, but at the end of the day cash is king and execs for the most part aren't going to risk their profits for anything.
