Ok, I have done my big PC upgrade/Windows Vista upgrade.

All of my songs (~6000) that I were able to save on my 2nd HDD now no longer have album artwork in iTunes, and for some reason I am not able to do anything about it. It says "Album Artwork not modifiable" in the little album artwork preview pane.

I have already changed the attributes so that they are no longer "Read Only" but this hasn't helped.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Apparently you need to have your computer "Authorized" vis a vis the iTunes Store in order to be able to edit your album artwork via iTunes.

    That's dumb.

Speaking of that, I'm down to 1 more account authorization before iTunes decides I can't have my songs anymore. (not a huge deal since I only have 7 purchased songs that I got from free songs on pepsi bottles).

I haven't explored what my options are, but seems like it isn't really upgrading friendly.

There are fine little programs floating around the 'net that can free them from the chains of DRM oppression... :?:

Generally, the iTunes cover feature works quite well. Get an account (don't have to buy anything) and download it

Elaborate. If you've, say, replaced or upgraded your motherboard without de-authorizing first, de-auth your current machine, shoot an email to Apple from the iTunes feedback page, and they'll reset it. I've done it once, no hassle at all.

    EDIT: 6000th post!
