Tamron Hall's show looks a little bland, but then I remind myself, early Oprah was as bad as Springer's show at its worst, and she evolved. So, Tamron's starting out a lot better. OTOH, Springer tried to be Phil Donahue, and look where he went. OTOOH, Phil Donahue got Springer-y at the very end. Anyway, I'm rooting for Tamron to be the new better Oprah.
She's come a loooong way. I worked with her at her first job (my second) and she was pretty ditzy. Got hired in Dallas based on her looks, but she clearly got some coaching somewhere and it stuck. And as pretty as she was as a 20-something, I think she's much hotter now as a 52-year old.
Oh, no. It’s weirder than that. It was a “massage parlor” in Kentucky that he wrote the check to. It bounced, so they put it on their bad check wall. Not too long after that, the place gets raided by the FBI. A month later, Springer calls the Feds and tells them everything. Then, like six months after that, he goes public with a version of what happened, while also admitting that he frequented a number of such establishments. He resigns, does the whole “lay low and hope they forget about everything soon” and then runs for governor! Wait, it gets better. He doesn’t win the primary, but because he’s able to raise a shitload of money, he gets hired on by the campaign of the guy who did win: Dick Celeste. Not only does Celeste become governor in 1982, but near the end of his second term, was engulfed in a huge scandal. Seems he and his wife had a taste for those sexy young OSU football players and I think you get the idea. Oh, and Celeste’s political party? He was a Democrat.
