Giving speeches like this one Seems pretty simple. Are we past simple solutions? Or is it just that the concept is sound but the execution is a bear? Can we not rise to the occasion and, as JFK said, do it because it's hard? Or, are we past all that rhetorical "nonsense"?
People will doggedly cling to their sacred cows and insist that "someone else" be made to fund it, and we'll all ride the sinking ship all the way to the see floor.
Problem is, they don't compete, not the big boys, they have their secret handshakes at the golf courses, and cahoot together, and there's nowhere to go.
Correct. That's why I highlighted this quote Reduce the power of government itself and you reduce the incentive of special interest groups to rig the system as well as reducing the incentive of corrupt people to get into positions of authority within government for the sole purpose of playing the power game and enriching the players. It's a win-win (-win, if you count the people in the equation as well).
The liberal establishment has succeeded in making so many people dependent on government that any effort to remove that dependency will result in civil unrest. Basically, if the teat dries up some motherfuckers are going to start breaking windows and burning cars, and the government doesn't want that- a public servant's single biggest fear is the mob looking for a scapegoat to hang.
