Top Republicans Work To Rebrand GOP As Party Of Working Class (NPR) . Belief in libertarian economics / ruthless capitalism / corporate feudalism . Lord and savior is a silver-spooned billionaire (or so he claims) . General disdain for using government to help average people directly . General disdain for average people themselves All of this screams working class, dunnit?
So the procorporate party who is against OSHA regulations, employee healthcare, paid sick leave, paid parental leave, overtime, unions, child exploitation, and any government regulation are the working class party? The party that elected a family who has never worked a day in their life (The Trump family) is the working class party? Yup, it is a funny joke until you realize how many working class scabs are going to buy into it. Republicans are the biggest reason we cannot have nice things in america.
So I haven’t been following it super closely. Has the Party of the Working Class submitted any legislation OTHER than repealing the Estate Tax? Looking out for all those working class folks who want to pass on over $22,000,000 tax free but are currently being held down by the government. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_604a5c91c5b6cf72d094d848
In all honesty does either political party really give a shit about the working class? IMHO both parties care about working class votes, full stop. Both parties have sincere, honest, caring politicians/leaders but the parties themselves can't get anything accomplished if they aren't in power. That's the nature of the beast.
Republican policies don't help the working class, but plenty of working class folks buy into their culture war malarkey.
To be fair, the Dems have been selling out or slacking in their role as the working class party for three decades now. But they still maintain that role far more than the GOP.
Dems have certainly promoted pro-corporate/pro-billionaire policies. But, they also staunchly defend social safety nets, unions, women's rights, gay rights, trans rights, freedom of religion, freedom of speech ....
So, this was just brought to my attention ... @The Ghost of Crazy Horse, are you laughing at Rimjob Bob's OP? Or at my post directly above yours?
I didn't even read post #9. The thread title made me think of the Monty Python skit the gif is based on and let's be honest, both parties are a joke, so I posted in response to the OP. @Jenee 's post just happened to be above mine, it could have been anyone's post.
So fucking what? I hardly ever read her posts. You guys seem to have some sort of unspoken rules that I'm supposed to magically know and when I don't I get ridiculed for it. I'm not playing by your rules, sorry.
