Well, Jindal does seem determined to make people believe that he suffers from early onset Alzheimer's.

Many times they're so clueless that they don't care.

We do the best that we can and, as a result, they end up not looking as bad as they should. On many occasions I've been tempted to shoot the pressers "as is" but that would only make me look bad, not them. :marathon:

To be honest, the quoted text doesn't read like a satire at all. It's not even close to over-the-top by Jindal standards, and if he said such a thing he'd probably see his job approval rating and his standing in the Republican presidential nomination race skyrocket. If there' something fishy about the quoted material, it's that it's too tactically sound a statement to be made by Jindal.

Please Dudes, it's NationalReport. Not quite as blatantly obvious as The Onion, but damn close. Regardless, whether it fooled me or not (it didn't) it has no bearing on my response, which is valid either way.

On the upside if Jindal was elected in the television movie about him he could be played by the guy who plays Raj on The Big Bang Theory.

Yep, fooled me, too. Wasn't familiar with the publication, and it's too easy to believe, just from what I know of Jindal. I would not at all be surprised were he to say something like that.

I don't know. He seems like a pretty smart cookie. Graduated with honors from Brown with two degrees at 20 years old. Was accepted to Harvard Medical School and Yale Law School but ended up at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He was accepted into Oxford's D.Phil program but turned it down for a job offer. At 24 years old he was appointed to a State Cabinet position with control of 40% of Louisiana's budget and 12,000 employees. At 28 years old he was appointed President of the University of Louisiana System (all jokes aside, not a bad school at all). I'm going to have to take a closer look at him.

It doesn't mean he isn't smart, only that he'll say anything to curry favor. Sure, lots of politicians do that, but he kind of sucks at it, and it's obvious he repeatedly dumbs himself down in order to stay on his constituency's good side.

Yes, he is likely quite smart. He also has an awkwardness about him. But let me explain my thinking a bit further. His parents were immigrants who embraced a new culture. He was raised in that culture and would rightly see aspects of it as part of who he is. You don't need an ancestor who wore gray to consider yourself a Southerner. So from that standpoint, I could see him claiming that the flag was part of his cultural background. Logically, it could be. But it would be a stupid thing to say just the same.

Jindal is in an awkward position. He is something very rare in Louisiana politics. A relatively honest politician.

If you value a failed rebellion in support of slavery as your heritage, you've got issues.

That being said, I don't give a shit who flies the Confederate flag, where or when.
