I've had this problem for some time now. Often, but not always, when typing a reply at Wordforge (only happens here) the text does not appear as I type it but lags, sometimes a LOT (my last previous post, I had to wait almost a full minute before it finished filling in).

    Why?

Xenforo. Happens to me on TrekBBS, too.

Could be a program is eating your memory.
I just got rid of a greedy anti-virus that was lagging everything.

The Xenforo text editor is known for lagging. It's something that exists between versions 1.2 and 1.4. I don't know if the latest version has the same issue, but I wouldn't doubt it. Developers and customers have complained for years, but Xenforo doesn't seem to care.

Are you using the WYSIWYG text box? Having that option turned on slowed things way down for me, and when I got rid of it, the problem went away.

WYSIWYG is an acronym for "What You See Is What You Get," which just means what you type in the box will look exactly like that in the post, instead of being surrounded by BBCode, formatting commands, and smiley codes. Xenforo's WYSIWYG editor is notorious for lagging, bugging, and just being a nuisance, especially on the mobile platform, where it's nothing short of Satan's armpit.

Is there a way to disable it by default?

    Per user? Yes.
For the board? Probably, but I wouldn't recommend it.

To disable the Rich Text editor, do the following:

Hover the cursor over your username in the top right hand corner.
    Select "Preferences."
Under the "Options" heading, deselect the checkbox that says "Use the rich text editor to create and edit messages."

    Done!

Yes. You would have to type in the BBCode and smiley codes manually.

I still enter them manually. Also, I use the CTRL format keys on my keyboard. It's faster.

I do most of them manually, because I'm too lazy to look through that monumental list.

It could show a jihadi with a turbin, a long beard, the tradition Arab man jammies, blowing himself up. Alternatively a blonde woman run away from a muslim rapist.
