it's a pretty wild one. It has two kinds of magic in it, static and dynamic.

The difference is like this. In D&D if you want to cast a fireball you can just cast it and a big huge fireball will explode in plain viedw. That can happen in made too, BUT there's a catch, with which I'll explain below.

The other style is static, or coincidental magic. The way it differes is this, you have to find a way to make it look lke it happened through normal means. And taking the idea of the fireball, if you wanted to do that using coincidental magic, you'd cast the magic so that a car would develop a leak from their gas tank and then someone would come along and throw a lit cigarette on it or near it which would ignite the gas can cause an explosion.

Now here's the reason for the two styles of magic, it is because of the rules of reality. Reality is determined by the masses and there are spirits that reinforce the perception of reality. So if you fail or botch you'd catch the attention of these spirits who would then attack you. If you botched you get reality turned on its head and you have to fight your way back to reality.

Like Werewolf has tribes and Vampire has clans, Mage has Traditions and their main enemy is called the Technocracy. This group believes in a verys terile version of magic that mixes hard science. Their goal is to protect the earth from a group of people called the Reavers who're hell bent on destroying any kind of reality and are for pure chaos.

The system reveolves around twelve spheres such as Time, Life and Correspondence (movement) and each tradition utilises one of those spheres. This magic is fueled by Quintessence, which can be found in many places around the world.

That's pretty much the gist of it, but it's far more complicated. Of the World Of Darkness settings, that one is probably the most complicated one to be set in.

Of course they also fight Werewolves and vampires too. Though when they're fighting Werewolves they're raiding the Caern for Quintessence, with which Werewolves use as Gnosis.

However draining a caern of this gnosis runs the risk of destroying the caern.
