This might be a very interesting episode, it's a weird one where they're focusing on these two non-main characters.
That actually turned out to be pretty interesting, despite being about two Losties we've only seen once or twice before. Nice ironic Rod-Serling-esque piece of justice in the end. Even the retconning of events in the voyeur hatch fit well.
Understandable, since it was two poeple we couldn't care less about. But what the hell, it was an interesting excercise in editing and reusing old footage. Plus, it reminded why we're so glad Shannon and Boone are dead.
Bah. It was filler material, and there's plenty of questions more central to the main story they could be spending their time answering.
I know what I'd like to do to Sun... Loved the Twilight-Zone twist at the end! True, it didn't move the plot along at all, but I liked seeing them in the flashback sequences. The first several minutes (w/ Billy Dee Williams), both the Mrs. & I swore that we had the TV on the wrong channel, or Lost wasn't on last night or something like that. I didn't recognize Nikki at all.
OK. That was disturbing Didn't move the plot (much) but interesting nevertheless for the creep factor, the technical brilliance and the self mockery - who the hell is Nikki?! I think I asked exactly the same question here not too long ago!
I do wonder though--what is up w/ such a large number of characters in the show being Con Men? Sawyer, Locke's father, and now Nikki/Paulo? I mean, I know they need interesting backstories, but c'mon...can't the writers come up w/ something a little more original?
It's too bad Nikki and Paulo didn't tell Locke about that plane sooner. Boone would have died that much quicker. An interesting storyline, but I found myself caring less about Nikki and Paulo then I did about the Talies' backstory. In fact, both stories are pretty inconsequential since the Tailies, Nikki, and Paulo all died. Rose's husband is the only one who survived, and I predict he'll be eaten by Hurley.
By coincidence, I just saw "The 300" last night. And checking the IMDB entry for it today, I was flabberghasted to see that Paulo is also Xerxes! I guess I can see it now that I look at the photos side-by-side, but I never would've guessed at the movie theatre!
