... Hey Rocky, watch me pull a time traveling bunny out of my ass! So, the wife and I finally caught up with the last couple of episodes of LOST this weekend. What a shame that such an originally intriguing show has crossed so far into ridiculous territory that it can now only be enjoyed as a series of WTF moments and/or comedy. I mean clearly, the writers are now just fucking with us as perfectly evidenced by the following dialog in the finale: Character 1: You mean all this time you wanted to get BACK to the island. Character 2: What do you mean by that? Character 1: Hmm, what DO I mean by that? Me: ROFL! Seriously, the show is nothing more now than endless moments that are meant to surprise and shock us, which I suppose is mildly entertaining enough and it basically forces you to continue watching the show just to find out how on earth they are going to explain THAT one. Either that or they hope you forget that particular mystery because oh look, here's an even BIGGER mystery! What happened to Desmond's ability to predict the future? Didn't anyone think to wonder how the "oceanic six" how they could possibly be alive when, as we were told earlier, the supposedly dead bodies of all of the passengers had been found at the bottom of the ocean? The island can now teleport to a new location? Why are the characters calling John Locke Jeremy Bentham even amongst themselves? Please tell me I'm not the only one that feels this way.
No, but the ending next season will be Bob waking up next to Emily and telling her about the weird dream he had.
Don't be silly, the ending will really be an autistic Walt looking at a snow globe with a representation of the island inside of it.
I think the series should end with them going down the beach and finding the wrecked, weathered remains of the SS Minnow. Then the Lost Guy falls to his knees and starts pounding on the ground and saying "We've been here all along. DAMN YOU! GOD DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!"
Originally I was going to say that there was some link to Charlie, and Charlie's dead. But anyway, it seems to be less focused now that Charlie's gone. Hopefully the show will establish what the rest of the real world makes of that. But one possibility: they could be told the operation that "discovered" the Oceanic 815 turned out to have not properly autopsied everyone aboard. That in and of itself is less of a WTF than the means and the cost of doing so. I mean, if an island can distort electromagnetic energy, create time warps, bring a person back from the dead, cause visions and heal the sick, I don't see any reason inherently why it can't have teleportation among its abilities. That it requires a frozen donkey wheel and someone being forced to leave the island. They are being ironic, maybe?
IIRC, no one actually recovered the bodies at all, it being too difficult to do so at the bottom of the ocean.
Did you forget to watch the other seasons? Because if you'll recall, 99% of the "mysteries" brought up in seasons past have been answered by now. Half of what you bring up has been semi-answered and aren't really all that mysterious, and the rest will probably be resolved in the next season or two.
No, I haven't forgotten to watch the other seasons. And yes, I realize that many of the mysteries have been half assed answered, although truthfully, the answers are often as silly as the mysteries themselves. But you can't tell me that the mysteries haven't been getting sillier and sillier with no hope of any kind of explanation other than the supernatural, which I guess is what disappoints me as I was hoping for there to be at least a somewhat realistic explanation. I don't see how there can possibly be an explanation other than magic for Michael not being able to kill himself while he's not on the island, for example. And I don't know, it just seems like the writers are cheating by having the characters keep vital information from each other for no reason and things like that.
