Netflix released an animated anthology series called Love Death + Robots. It's mostly sci-fi based with some being more supernatural and one blending Chinese mythology with steampunk. The animation styles are all different, the tones vary from comedy to horror to action to thriller. Most are about 15 minutes or so. I'm still going through them but all are pretty good. The standouts being one about robots on vacation in the ruins of the human race, one about a Marine who is a shapeshifter using his abilities to fight in a war, one about a young man in China who encounters and befriends a fox spirit as a boy and keeps meeting her in adulthood as China is industrialized into a steampunk society and another where the crew of a ship find out that their FTL jump took them farther than they expected.

    David Fincher is producing it.

These shorts are interesting and have some nice plot twists to them so after this is going to be a bit spoiler heavy for each episode. I wil;l keep my recommendations outside the spoiler tags.

Suffers from the same trouble as the original heavy metal in multiple ways, but also brings some of the interesting points of heavy metal. This is not heavy metal by a long shot. This seems to be a bunch of shorts with no connecting plot line. The animation styles are different and the story plots range from humorous to violent and even some obscure. If you don't like one episode they are short and the next episode may be good for you. They are all short so little time is invested and it is on to the next one. Some of these work as shorts in that they give you the right amount of info to go with the plot, but only focus on a quick moment and don't do a whole lot of universe explaining.

The huge problem I find here is adult means boobies not really in depth plot. It also means action is often graphic and bloody, but sometimes really pointless. The witness episode has an interesting idea, but it plays like a porno and leaves the plot hanging in lieu of a trip through S&M porn with a naked hooker. I have stopped the spirit hunter episode right after the boobies started.

Before anyone goes there I watch a number of haram anime with some pretty sexualized themes and don't go running from animated boobies until they are all the fucking show is about.

1st episode, sonnie's edge: I can recommend this one as an action heavy episode about virtual combat with user controlled animal/robot type creations in a ring. The main conflict is simple, it has multiple layers, and it has some nice animation. The characters are pretty much one dimensional, but it relies on this so it does not have to waste time with development. It does not need development to get it's point across either.

second episode, Three Robots: I cannot say this one is great, but it is only a couple minutes long if you don't get the humor. If you do get the humor there are a couple of laughs. This episode reminded me a lot of the flying smiley face episode of heavy metal because of it's humor. It is about three robots touring the sites of the end of the human race sometime in the future. I will spoiler a lot of my criticism in that it is the punch line of some of the jokes. This is humorous, and I can recommend it if you are familiar with modern technology tropes. Exploding kittens is a card came that is popular among kids. It has varying cats that explode or do things to your opponent, and you should know that before going into it. The humor could fall very flat if you are not up on current geeky and kids game trends.

Episode 3, The Witness. Good idea, terrible execution. However, if you want something pointless and stupid to jerk off to then this is probably your episode. This episode substitutes boobies and watching a naked hooker run for her life through a town for what could have been an interesting plot twist. This episode pissed me off as it could have been really good, but was really just an excuse for porn.

episode 4, Suits: I would recommend this episode for the short time you have to sit through it. It is exciting, the characters are fun, and the holes in it do not ruin it. It is about a bunch of farmers who are protecting their farms from monsters using giant mech suits with guns and missiles. It is fun, but don't think too much about why they are there.

episode 5, sucker of souls. I would recommend this one. It is another nice survival run. Lots of actions, stereotype heroes that you can have some fun with. I am not going to put a spoiler on this one because I did not really have any complaint with how this would go and it is a typical explorers find ancient evil in an acheological dig and are trying to survive. It is well enclosed and does not run into the problems of gratuitous boobies.

Episode 6, when yogurt took over the world. Skip it. It is a story about how yogurt became the ruler of the world. There was not much funny about it. The bewbs were not well animated. It had a different animation style than the rest if you want to waste time on that. I suggest reading the spoiler here and not wasting your time if your curious.

Episode 7, Beyond the Aquila Rift. Good episode, but needed more development which could have come instead of a time consuming sex scene which lead nowhere. I would recommend it. Crew of a spaceship is going on a long trip. They enter their sleeping tubes for the journey and the captain is woken up to find that something happened on the trip and they are somewhere they did not expect and he is trying to figure out why. There is a woman he knows, but it is not explained how he knows her and somehow she is the key to the mystery.

I will get to more later.

    episode 8, Good hunting.

This is a good episode. It has a steampunk sort of theme and is in an Asian setting. The nudity flows with the plot and has reason instead of seeming to be there to promote a hard on. The general plot is boy is taught to hunt a spirit creature and ends up learning steampunk tech and finding his place with the creature as society advances. This is well done and there is no need for spoilers as there is little to discuss with problems being it is a decent enclosed story of it's own. It develops the universe just enough to enjoy while leaving things open for the imagination without too many questions.

Episode 9, the dump: Another good episode that strays away from boobies make people watch. This is about an old man who lives in a dump that is being taken over by a developer. It is a pretty simple plot. It does not explain too much about itself, and has an interesting conclusion. I recommend this one too. It is a bit gory and ugly, and includes a bunch of penises. At least in this case when the animators are fooling around with the characters pants down it fits into the plot and the fear and fun.

Episode 10, shapeshifters. Another one I can recommend for it's originality. They are getting away from putting in boobs instead of plot here. This is about the army using werewolves in their missions in a terrorist inhabited desert like the middle east. This one focusses on prejudices between humans and shapeshifters along with duty, war, and friendship. It has some gore, but is a decent watch. Not many complaints with it, and it would probably be cool to see more.

I really enjoyed the Yogurt one, it was weird. Good Hunting might be the best. You haven't gotten to it yet, but Zima Blue is very good. It's not what I expected, but I like it.

I found out that the show is run in a different episode order and there are 4 of them so the order I get them in might not be the same for everyone. Zina blue was good, and I have noticed a lot of them have picked up in quality. There is good variance in their plots.

Now that I have completed it the complaints I had with the first few episodes did not carry through most of the episodes. I would say watch through because even the episodes you don't care for are over so fast you are on to something completely new which you may like. Most of them are action oriented and not slow. I would say NSFW given the gore and prominent nudity.
