Ok long story short-I have really bad GERD and get sick everytime I eat anything that isn't low fat plus a few other random triggers. I was wondering if you all had any ideas of low fat recipes I could try this summer that are relatively inexpensive since I am a college student lol. The restraints: No red meat No citrus Nothing fried in anything No peanut butter Nothing too spicy or heavily seasoned no tomatoes, onions, or peppers no fat containing dairy If you all have any ideas, I will greatly appreciate it.
Pancakes? Spaghetti? Bread. That's about all I can think of. Well, pancakes would probably have butter in the pan. And spaghetti would have tomato sauce. Can you use Pam cooking spray on a frying pan? When I do an omlette it has mushrooms, peppers, onions, and cheese, with Tabasco on top. I guess you could do just a mushroom omlette. Get yerself some mushrooms. Slice them down. Spray some cooking spray in a pan and brown them a bit. While the mushrooms are browning (pretty high heat), crack 3-4 eggs and whip them up. Pull out the mushrooms and put them on your plate. Maybe add another spritz of Pam. Then pour in the eggs. Shake the pan briskly and whisk it a bit with a fork until the eggs firm up. Dump the mushrooms back in and then fold the eggs over top of them and slide the whole thing onto a plate. Lots of oatmeal and ramen noodles?
Well, you have my recipe book so there's about 5 or 6 things. I'll be cooking a lot this summer, so I'll let you know every time I make something else lowfat.
Wow, that rules out my entire diet. Seriously. Not a fucking thing left when you eliminate all of that stuff.
Well, pork isn't exactly red meat, so that baked with apples or pineapples should be fine. Cubed chicken with dried fruit, beans and rice, either baked or part of a salad. How are you with eggs? Or is all dairy out? If you can do eggs, bake them in non-stick ramekins with mild herbs like parsley on top. If you can handle soya milk, a splash of that keeps them moist in the oven. You could also try baked fruit, I don't personally like pears, but you can bake them as part of a main meal. Mild turkey curries can be very lightly spiced and provide a lot of taste with little spice heat.
Have you tried eating more mono unsaturated fatty acids like nuts and choclate and avacados and so on. I noticed that when I started eating more of those my Gerd/constant burn started to back off then eventually went away. I've backed off of the mufa's now and I still am in good shape plus I do physical labor like crazy now; however when I first started on the mufa's I was exercising. So the mufa's in combination with exercise helped reduce stress levels and the burn. I've been on and off of Aciphex for 9 years. And until the end of January I had been on Aciphex constantly for three years. Good Luck. If you decide to try them eat a little with every meal and a snack. A couple of Tablespoons will do you. Just eat them one at a time and make them stretch out, it is amazing how full they make you feel. I figured this out from "the flat belly diet". They have one for men now too.
Interesting. Yeah I can handle avocados just fine, eating some now actually. I will definitely at least look into it. Thanks.
