I agree that Grammour Boy's "infraction" was dubious at best.

In fact, I couldn't even tell that her tops were see through until I did a double take, and even then I had to look real close.

There was no warning for the pictures or in the thread title as specified in the rules. Grammour Boy, who has garnered a reputation for quite frequently posting pictures should know that particular rule better than most, hence the full warning.

We've already had one WF'er fired from their job because of images, and while I completely agree that if you post from work you should turn images, signatures, and avatars off, it grates on my conscience and I don't want it to happen again.

If you want to post those sorts of pictures, use the White Room. That's it's reason for existing. Tamar said as much here: "All nudity will be moved to this area if it is posted elsewhere on the board."

Point of order: The thread title was already set when the see-through images were posted a bit later on. As you can see the first picture that started the thread is completely Safe For Work, however I could not have foreseen that the subsequent see-through pictures would not be safe for work and therefore that's the reason why NSFW does not appear in the thread title. Does that make sense? Also, at the time I honestly did not think that see-through images are NSFW as well. An honest mistake worthy of a friendly at worst, not a full warning imo.

 

I don't give friendly warnings, for the same reason I never carried a warning book when I was working traffic detail. If you do something egregious enough for me to warrant pulling you over, you're getting a ticket. Period. So, if you do something egregious enough for me to warrant acting like an administrator, you're getting a full warning. Period.

Well, I take that back. I have been known to give noobs a friendly warning from time to time, but I believe that a long standing member, that knows the rules, or should if they don't, doesn't deserve the same slack. Of course, that's just my personal take on it. The other mods are free to issue them at their discretion.

 

I'm not trying to be an internet lawyer or anything, but there are pictures posted in the Green Room showing women in See-Through clothing without the NSFW tag in the thread title and no warning given. Isn't it unfair that I was given a full warning for the same offense unbeknownst to me.

I really hope that the poster doesn't get a full warning for that post, as I am not trying to get him/her in trouble or anything, honestly. Perhaps a friendly edit and a PM is all that is called for in situations such as this. But I don't know...

 

Not to rudely barge in or anything, but I'm sure that the "Nudity is not necessary" thread is a lot worse than some barely-see-through shirts on a half-okay-looking middle-aged woman.

I think neither deserves warnings.

 

But if precedent has been set within wordforge code, then the green room thread poster needs to be warned as well.

 

I have no comment on the warnings, except that GB has a routine of posting scantily clad women pictures in every forum. I don't care to keep track of how many times he's been told to desist so I leave that to the mods in this case.

As for the pictures and the thread, as I stated there, I would prefer not to open an MC thread at work and have nipples displayed. I disable the white room at work for this purpose (though I'll see how that works with the new set-up.) I have a lot of leeway to surf at work for purposes of my research but I think the line will be drawn at pornography unless I have a work-related excuse. I like Star Trek titties is not going to fly with my bosses.

I have zero sympathy for anyone at work. You takes your chances when surfing the net. Someone should make a hack however where there is a "work/home" button at the top of the page (near the log out button) that automatically shuts off (or turns on) avatars, images, and signatures without having to go through the CP each time. Make it easier for people.

I also have no sympathy for people who continually post things where they don't belong after being told time and again to not do it. After the first time one should be able to know what is and isn't right.

I also have no sympathy for people who don't use NSFW tags. Yes the pictures may have come much later then when the thread started but as a poster one should be responsible enough to spoiler tag them and mark them as NSFW for the other posters on the board.

I'm not big on sympathy.

 

I've suggested such in the past. If I had access to the board code, I could probably hack it together too, since it'd just involve activating a bunch of built in code, I believe.

 

I don't believe GB deserved a full warning for his thread. I know that images are a touchy subject because of Bear, but that really is the individual posters lookout. If you're at work, and you have a feeling you shouldn't be doing something non-work related, you probably shouldn't do it then.

And clicking on a thread with...(women of your choice) Name in the title is probably reason enough not to click on it at work. I'm responsible for my actions and my continued employment so I don't look at such threads at work. Period.

That being said, I didn't find the pictures bad at all, I've seen avatars that are much worse in terms of NSFW. At the most GB deserved a friendly for being a dolt, or just a simple WOOSH to the WR, with no harm done.
