The third GN option is great, wonderful, super.

Until the day the "We Can Always Tell" police starts fucking with someone they presume to be trans because they choose differently.

As a general rule, if there's such an option I also choose it - mainly because I'm being over cautious despite never getting clocked outside my home town...but there's a massive difference between me choosing to and being policed. Practically and ethically.

A law that says I MUST be segregated is a law that codifies the implication that people like me are so dangerous that it's necessary.

Relatedly, if it's a matter of law then a certain segment of the bigot population will tend to assume that only the "freaks" use the third option so it's okay to fuck with anyone who they think they've clocked.

 

and also, you're entirely fucked (assuming you want to comply) if you're in some location that doesn't have the third option.

All these laws are intended to make bigotry easier. From the insistence that youth go through puberty uninterrupted (so they are easier to clock as adults) to laws like the one MS just passed that includes a prohibition on trans students in school housing unless it's with their assumed sex at birth (which means they effectively can't live on campus and have to have a cover story with their peers if they don't want to be outed) to efforts to interfere with insurance coverage for anyone.

Here is the problem with @Ten Lubak and his idea. Again, he wants the trans people to be usinbg a seperate bathroom. If it was just a non-gendered single bathrooms for everyone then no problem. But as soon as you get into that people like him want to demand gendered bathrooms and the non-gendered one. Which makes the non-gendered bathroom the trans bathroom, and opens up everyone who uses it to suspicion. For the few cis people who would use it, the discrimination would hapopen also because why are they using the others bathroom. Then gossipy morons like him have to make up reasons that person uses the strange person bathroom.

Really, in the end why would a trans female not use the ladies room since everything she is doing in the bathroom would be what a woman does. Having it there, and then threatening people with legal troubles if they are caught in the wrong restroom is just going to be an attempt to out people at the workplace or school, which is what ten and @Uncle Albert want.

I would still maintain a urinal room for men as it allows for quicker use in large venues, and make all the stalls single use with a general washroom. Just have a small urinal area and then toilets in a stall around the community hand washing and jungle gym area for the people with kids.

 

That goes to the next problem. How is @Uncle Albert island going to feel when the genital inspector has to be there to make sure he is not a trans man in the men's room? Are we supposed to allow every idiot in the bathroom to demand a genital inspection if they feel a person isn't man or woman enough to be in the bathroom?

I will tell you the moment we have to do that I am demanding every motherfucker in the bathroom pull out their fucking mancard for my inspection because I want to make sure they are men. While I am at it why don't I shake down every woman going into the women's room for a peak? Oh yeah, because there is going to be a line of republican men in front of me.

In order to enforce this everyone is going to have to pass the test for every paranoid brain worm infested repug out there. It wilkl not just be trans people, it will be everyone that now has to prove their genitals to be allowed in public restrooms.

 

If a cis person is just minding their own business, all I have to do is tell a cop they are actually trans and then all of a sudden the police are throwing some ginger welder on the ground and confirming hios dick is real because he generally looks like a performative male. There is a pair of them, first is the performative male who probably has no dick, and the trans man he is with because she does not dress feminine enough and she might have a dick. That is an episode of sham and dian I want to see when the police grab both of them and confirm they have the right junk on date night in the brokedick jeep.

Be careful what you wish for people. Someone has got to enforce the inspections, and your word is not good enough.

Maybe if you did not let the dipshit devolved people of your state make the laws, you might have that option. Even here in Florida with Ron Desanctimonious running things we still are getting a lot of gender neutral single bathrooms. Most small restaurants around here have neutralized their bathrooms, along with family/handicapped/gender neutral restrooms becomming the norm in Pharmacies and grocery stores.

This is why you people in the middle need to stop fucking around and permitting the lesser evolved humans run your flyover state. Maybe you lose UA's ballot next election as he is probably de-evolving you as we speak.

I'm not sure what the problem is with, not "gender neutral", but "family" restrooms.
In the Walmart example I mentioned, my attention was brought to it because an employee, some 20-something boy, told me all the employees prefer the family restroom.
I'm guessing a lot of people would. Especially people, for instance, who don't want to publicly broadcast their smelly diarrhea shits.
If it was mandated that all public spaces have a "family" restroom, well, who's going to argue with that? And with all manner of people using it, why would there ever be an issue?

 

Coupled with the ban from the ladies room you would be closer to being outed. You really need to understand how devastating it becomes to be outed for a trans person who is passing all the time. Lots of people really do change the way they see you and treat you knowing that. Even if it is a positive supportive thing, it is still not what you are looking for. It can really pierce to the heart of being trans and it does not just sting like an insult, but actually will change your relationships on their ear.

If I call you a jerk the people who like you and know you don't really change their mind about you. If I reveal you are the other gender and everyone is wrong about you, every relationship you have with the people who did not know changes. People like UA know that and wish to have that power over you. It makes them feel awesome because it is so devastating to a person.

One of the reasons I lead with being trans and don't bother with passing is it removes that entire thing. It means I will never fully pass as a woman, but it also means no one can ever out me again.

 

Look, I appreciate the delicacy of the situation. But I just dint see a problem with not using the ladies room if you have a penis. And no, I would never suggest anything as debasing as a genital check.
But we do have to have some kind of line. I wouldn't feel comfortable, for instance, if some Ezra Miller type walked into the women's restroom while my daughter was in there.
Are all trans people like that? The vast majority of them are not.
But I feel the same way about it as I do about concealed carry. The Bad ones are bad enough to impose restrictions on everyone else.

 

My personal opinion is if you want to be all in the female places you need to go for the surgery. I no longer bother with the women's room because I no longer am tracking for living full time female. If I can deal with expressing as male from time to time, then I can deal with using a gender neutral or the men's room. The same with changing areas. Make a gender neutral changing area for those of us who really do not care.

I will say I have met people who have been abused by crossdressing men. When I first came out a young lady who had been abused by her crossdressing father tried to be there for me, and I did not know until she broke down what had happened. Given how often women are sexually abused I do not know how often it is a problem. The reality is someone who has undergone SRS to change their body to female is not going to be triggering anyone because she has a vagina and not a dick. As far as I am aware the reverse is not true and there is no full passable dickaplasty. I could be wrong there, but I also do not think men would be similarly traumatized by seeing a vagina in the mens changing area. I would think it would be more dangerous for the trans man to be exposed to other men rather than him triggering any latent trauma in them.

The reality is that much like the abortion issue the people who are against trans people are often not honest about why they feel the need to be involved so heavily in it. For the most part it does not matter what is beneath the gender presentation because our activities are mainly platonic and no reproduction is going to happen. So for most of the time it is basically a social construct.

I really do think it is absurd for a person to say they will keep the penis, but have to go to the ladies room to feel like a woman. I am all for giving out the surgery to those who are determined to need it, but if you can get along with the dick being given the option of a vagina, then you can stay out of the ladies room no matter how you are dressed.

 

But no one is really complaining about him in the mens room. A lot of people do not want to think about that and would rather just allow him to use the mens room.
