Enough time has passed that it's clear that you're not going to get what you say you're after (though I disagree that people only say that they love the shows). So why persist? I have opinions about various shows that conflict with what other's think, but I'm not going to try changing their minds about it.
People who watch to enjoy have criticized it, the folks mentioned have previously been cautioned. You post the same sort of tirade every week about woke SJWs. You're a liar.
No I don't, you're the liar. I post every week my thoughts on the episode. And from time time post things I've heard from others on the internet. It's not every week.
I don't know what you think you're trying to prove by posting that, but whatever it is, you're wrong.
it proves that we can count on a weekly whinge from you about the poor white men not being the centre of the story.
White men don't have to be center of the story, the writers just need to stop injecting their identity politics into the story.
Um...there's no way to have diversity in a story where Nazis won't call it "identity politics" just like there's no way for black people to protest grievances that isn't seen as a threat by nervous conservative white people. So if you get rid of everything that's considered "identity politics" you end up with all white guys. That's what you get. That's what Nazis want. Look, Nazis hate progressivism, they hate Trek for being progressive, they want to fucking ruin it, and make it go away, and they know coming right out and saying "we hate Trek for being progressive, and we want TV to be all white" hasn't worked for them since the Kirk/Uhura kiss, so their new tack is to get on Youtube, pretend to be fans, invent this thing called "identity politics" that is somehow an evil villain form of minority inclusion (how the fuck that works is never actually explained), and to get saps like you to hate it. And lo and behold, there's no way to get rid of this imaginary "identity politics" bullshit without also destroying positive forms of inclusion they pretend to be for. It's the most obvious grift there is. You're being played. Snap out of it.
You call everyone right of Lenin a Nazis. I don't care what real Nazis want or don't want, everyone who doesn't live in a left wing bubble can see it for what it is. I identity politics is very much real and it's being injected into everything these days. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Having diversity is not identity politics by the way. You can have a diverse crew and still not inject identity politics so no it would just be all white guys.
Nope, I don't. I don't call you a Nazi. I just think you're a Nazi dupe. That's why I try to help you. If you were a full swastika-kisser like Storm, you'd just be dead to me like him. Define it. In a way to doesn't put the goalposts around the Sun and Pluto.
yet here we are in season 3 with you coming up with nothing more substantial than somehow a shared universe making internal references somehow detracts from the fictitious achievements of white dudes...
The phrase is generally understood to mean an emphasis on a person's irrelevant personal details, such as gender, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, and so forth. As if people existed for no reason other than to be fit into categories on a sociologist's PhD dissertation.
irrelevant? 'splain that one for me. bonus for Feedus a Farmer if he can apply that to anything in DSC without resorting to how it diminishes his own identity as a cis white dude.
Such things are irrelevant because they don't define you as a person. Or perhaps my view is colored by the fact that my sole basis for judging other people is by how annoying they are . . .
OTOH, they can have profound effect on how someone experiences life. For all us CHWM can claim to be colour blind, it doesn't change the inherent obstacles created for those generally understood as being marginalized based on personal qualities. And I'm still not seeing how it applies to Trek, no matter how many times it's claimed to be destroying the franchise.
Usually it's when the trope is used in a ham-fisted way. THIS IS A FEMALE CHARACTER WHO IS A LESBIAN!! AND THAT IS THE ONLY THING WE'RE EVER GOING TO TELL YOU ABOUT HER!! AND YOU WILL PRAISE HER NAME BECAUSE OF IT!!! That kind of thing.
gotcha. Still not really seeing it on the show though. I've gotta wonder if some of it isn't in the reception rather than the broadcast? Like sure, the visible representation gets established. We knew Reno was widowed almost as quickly as we knew it about Sisko. But other than her dead wife coming up in conversation about relationships it's not like they beat anyone over the head that they tribbled.
Sorry, I was asking @The Ghost of Crazy Horse, I thought that was clear. Also, that's not what identity politics means (or at least that's only half of it). I'm trying to understand how @The Ghost of Crazy Horse understands it, because it doesn't make sense in the context in which he is using the term.
And yet, others define me as a person based entirely on those things. And, for many people, that not only effects their pay, the jobs they are offered, how they are treated by police, how they are treated by other people. Saying those things are irrelevant is saying "everyone should look, act, dress, and behave like me, then you won't have a problem."
