Our shitty ex-governor Paul LePage blocked marijuana legalization.
    We voted it in.
He just crossed his arms, and said "nope".
    Fucker should have been arrested.
    We voted the sumbitch out.
Booting legalization into function was one of Janet Mills first actions.
Now LePage wants to run again.
Sadly, we've got just enough stupid rednecks where the criminal fuck has a chance.
    :(

Republicans did the same thing in Florida.

Over 60% of voters passed a constitutional amendment to restore voting rights to felons.

    The Republicans gutted it.

The contempt Republicans have for voters (and the law) is baffling.

The Florida situation is particularly fucked up.

So after over 60% of Florida voters passed a Constitutional Amendment to restore voting rights to felons the Republicans went and passed a new law that required that you have paid all fines and fees before you can vote.

If you do vote without paying everything then you have committed voting fraud.

But they won’t tell you if you owe anything. You have to go to every city and county you might owe and ask.

Folks aren’t going to risk committing a new crime so just won’t vote.

    Which was the plan.

    Republicans are straight up evil.

Idaho Republicans tried to work around it after voters cleared the 60% level, but so far, they've grumbled and gone along. Instead, they're trying to make it (practically) impossible to approve voter initiatives. :jayzus:

I think RCV will take care of LePage in 2022, thankfully.

The problem isn't Republicans doing shitty and evil things; the problem is people describing them that way, because UNITY!

Shut up. No one, absolutely no one who has voted for a Republican politician in the last 25 years should ever be taken seriously when discussing "unity".

Ugh... Paul LePage. I can't stand the thought of that guy in any sort of power. Biggest asshole in the nation which means he'll probably get the Republican nomination for POTUS in 2024. Tell him Shifty & D-Money said "what up."

The Republicans are a post-democracy party, more and more obviously. Fast tracking towards fascism.
