About what I figured, a lot of old legislators hanging on to their jobs not because they have any spirit to use their positions to make American's lives better, but because they don't know any other way of life or because (not mentioned here) they're paralyzed by "what if I do something unpopular and the other, Evil party gets my seat" too much to do anything good.
I don’t care if it is Noblesse Oblige at least he gives a fuck about this country. I never voted for Bush or Romney (or Gore/Kerry/Obama) and policy wise I have lots of disagreements with them. But I have always believed that while misguided they honestly believed they were helping the nation. I can respect that. I don’t believe the modern GOP cares about the nation. Neither the ‘leaders’ or even the base. I think the base of the Republican Party hates Modern America and the majority of the American People. Some might be glad Romney is leaving. Either because they are crazy right (Goodbye RINO!) or crazy left (Romney gives a fig leaf to there being Reasonable Republicans) but I’m not one. Like it or not we are a two party system and one party no longer having rational leaders is not good for our Republic.
The only left leaning politicians I believe actually care about the country are considered extremists by their own party and are not supported by the party.
Remember, this is the guy whose presidential bid was sunk by being caught on tape saying 40% of Americans are lazy, and just want free stuff.
Romney did not care about the people of the country. He cared about the corporate profits of the country. As long as the corporations were making money we could all have been wiped out and Romney would not have cared. I guess because money and corporations are human concepts that require human commerce to exist maybe that forced him to care that some of us were around, but I am sure he did not care what condition any of us were in as long as we could be used by his friends.
I wouldn't say it was sunk...he did about as reasonably well as he could up against a rock star politician in Obama with no major avenues of attack. I tend to doubt that the 47 percent comment cost him more than a handful (relatively) of individual votes, let alone enough to switch any red state to blue in that election.
I feel confident in saying that were someone to call Mittens a Communist to his face, he'd have to be held back because he'd try to kill them.

Yeah, that's why he stole all of Obama's votes, and became president in 2012. Then he made AOC a supreme court justice, and now abortion is protected in the constitution. And all the dark Koch money got exposed, and jerrymandering was rolled back, and cars went solar, and Florida got a trans governor. Yep. good ol' woke Romney.
