I don't know much about Egypt, but something tells me I should be cynical and assume the guy does really want unlimited power.
    Thoughts?

Well of course he does. Contrary to some of the nuts on this board the Muslim Brotherhood of which Mursi is a member is bent on taking over Egypt and establishing their own Islamic government. No room for opposition in such a government. The Muslim Brotherhood is slowly working towards that goal although Mr. Mursi may have pushed a little too hard with his decree.

It's rare for somebody to take special powers and then relinquish them. We'll see what results from this meeting.

Make that worse then the old boss. Mubarak was a dictator but even he didn't grab as much power as Mursi is attempting to do.

If the claim that they're temporary is to have any credibility, then any surrender of these powers needs to include a permanent ban on them ever being granted again.
