Sophie better be dead by the end of Act 1 or the spoiler did it's job double plus good. The thinly veiled martyrdom of "the religious" kinda implies that this is as much agenda serving as it is entertainment. We might get the double allegory thing out of it, y'know, where the savages all have the idealized protestant values of leave it to beaver with a dose of "to serve man".

6 and a half years! And those six years really gave me a 'fresh' look at what I wrote, and holy shit I think this has potential. @Spaceturkey I was actually considering reducing or eliminating the religious angle after rereading your comment, but the story as planned isn't going in a direction you were thinking when you first read this. With that said, I'm curious as to what @Diacanu or others think.
yeah, I kinda want to see where you were gonna take this. Especially after we've had stuff like Ascension and the 100 playing around with the lost tribe conceit (presuming that's what the colony ship is about?) I get a feeling "they were religious" doesn't necessarily mean what we think it means at this point? definitely intrigued to see what kind of world you're painting for these folks to inhabit. chop chop
