I'm assuming that head klonk when he got mugged in Germany had something to do with it.

That's recently enough that its possible his death could be a lingering result of the injury.

Possible.

I think stories of his mugging injury got somewhat inflated. I had heard earlier that he had to have a plate put in his head. But it sounds like the reality is that he got knocked out and he needed about 14 stitches to close the wound.

There was also something about him being in a coma for while a few years ago. I can't find anything on that story though.

He had some substance abuse issues, yes, but in recent years had gotten on top of it.

So Claudia Christian posts FU if you start your rememberance of him with "We disagreed on politics, but...", and then JMS posts regarding Doyle, essentially, We disagreed on everything. In politics he was a little Right of Attila the Hun.
