You do know that Chris Hayes' show is a pundit show, right? Like Maddow, O'Reilly, and many others, it is a political show, not a news program. So yes, it is an interview, a scripted one. Have you never heard of scripted interviews? Have you never heard of politicians, of all stripes, informing interviewers what they will and won't answer beforehand? Have you never heard of interviewers and other media outlets receiving guidelines and instructions on what is and is not allowed, on what can and cannot be said before they agree to the interview? Seriously, have you ever watched television, or read a magazine, or a newspaper in your life?

Yes, and Trump doesn't do scripts. He just says what he thinks. Hillary doesn't even write her own scripts. The e-mail dumps from Wikileaks had tons of discussions between her staffers as they work up what she's going to say, and what her positions are going to be. They even have huge e-mail chains where they work up jokes for her to use.

Hate to break this to the OP, but this is very routine. Most shows do this so that their guests have a chance to research and be well prepared. Do you really think those guests know so many facts and numbers and can drop them at any moment? Please. This is like the big revelation that politicians use teleprompters.

Unless of course the guest is a Republican, in which case the goal is to trip them up with gotcha questions about the prime minster of Estonia.
