I'm sure we've covered this many times before but why the hell do so many of you so regularly misspell his name?
I'm pretty sure it's gotta be some weird way of pronouncing it but why? Firstly, Dune isn't exactly a fringe scifi novel and, secondly, at least from my German-speaking background "Maud" makes absolutely no sense and just sounds even worse than "Muad".

    Enlighten me. :bailey:

This is true. Muad'Dib is easier to spell than Kwisatz Haderach.

Eh. I never read Dune. It was well over a year on the same board with him before i even learned what the name referred to.

Plus, I can't spell normal words, let alone odd names. Muad doesn't exactly turn up in the ol' spell checker.

I never read Dune or saw the movies. Before I learned better, I thought Muad Dib was an obscure Confederacy reference. :ramen:

Same here. I assumed it was some weird Confederate thing I'd never heard of.

For the same reason he misspells my name?

I've been hanging around TNZ and WF for a long time now, never once changed my username or its spelling, and am not exactly an obscure poster. Yet a lot of posters, including Muad, spell my name "Asynchritus." The "h" is straight out of Never-Never Land; it has never been there in my posts, rep comments, or anywhere else my name shows up when it isn't (mis)copied by someone.

"Muad" at least from my English speaking background looks like a misspelled word. My mind does the auto-correction/fill in the blanks thing and it reads like Maude.

C'mon bub, the user name you picked invites misspelling.

I demand that Puppy-Boy go back to his Puppy-Boy avatar so that the n00bs know who I'm talking about when I say "Puppy-Boy" and I don't have to learn how to spell Powaqattsi.
