    http://www.multimap.com/

This site has more detailed maps than Google Earth. Thought I'd post it here in case anyone was interested in this stuff.

Yeah, I found that too. Plus, you don't have to download anything for hybrid aerial/map view, and they actually believe in walking. I don't have a car, so google map's directions and estimated times are very much NOT useful!

In some cities, there is also Bird's Eye View:

It seems like it still uses the same map that Google uses, because it has the same error in my neighborhood. A street dead-ends then pickups up a few blocks away, but both this and Google Maps thinks the street keeps going. Leads to many people calling me to ask for a detour route. I like the birds eye view though, it's nice to see places from different angles.

I can see my college and a bunch of tiny towns.
Google used to have black and white pics of small towns, but replaced them with colorful blurs. :garamet:

Multimap has the black and white pics.

Hey, slamming in my college town returns a town about an hour east of here. My address? No results.

    Great job.

Looks like this was designed for the UK though? Might explain it. But still, on Google Maps, I can throw in my address and zoom right in to a picture of my car in a third of the time.

The arial view was dead-on and more current. There is much new home/road building where I live, and MulitMap reflected this. Most other maps/views are months behind. Funny, I saw my birdbath in my backyard!

BTW, there is nothing more soul-draining than seeing your cookie-cutter subdivision from an arial view. :jayzus:

Oh wait, there is....it's zooming out and seeing a dozen more new cookie-cutter subdivisions in your area! :jayzus::jayzus::jayzus::jayzus::jayzus:

You can almost imagine the future road gridlock. :jayzus:

My childhood home in Glendale, AZ looks about the same. I'm glad the current owners are keeping it up. :)

My current house doesn't show up. They must not bother taking such pictures out here.

Birds Eye view is neat. I noticed that some of the road lines don't align with the real roads though (even in normal view). Also it thinks my house is about 1/3rd of a mile farther down my street than it really is.

Wow, there's a bird's eye view of my work and it's just an industrial park. Color me impressed.

I don't really like the layout of the site (too much happening) but damn is it feature rich.

Cool. :shades: My brother is about to move into a house in a really small town, and this site has way more detail of it than google.

When I put in my zip code, it centered on a town 10 miles away from me.

But the images for my town must be at least 10 years old. The development across the street from me is just an empty field!
