........................................................................................................ ................................................................................................................................... I do not fear to see the writings even of those I vehemently disagree with. Anyone else like this or do yall have someone in "the list"?
It's a good feature sometimes, short-term, if someone's getting on your nerves. On occasion I'll just switch someone to "ignore" for a couple of days to avoid the sensation. Longer term I use it sparingly, but not because I don't like the substance or ideas someone posts. The only one I currently have on my "list," is the construct Enty, mostly because he's so prolific. I have no interest anymore in debate just for the sake of debate. I prefer to argue or discuss with what I regard as real people, mainly. Ignoring the voids helps me resist the temptation to reply to their shit, since my self control's always hanging by a thin thread.
I'm a hair away from putting baba on it, but every once in a while he makes me loathe him slightly less.
What;s the point? If you put people you disagree with on ignore, you might as well rename the site "CircleJerk"
I do but when I do it's usually through someone who's harrasing me to no end or over an offensive avatar.
I have no one on ignore. Can't see the point. How can I appreciate the people I like without the yardstick of those I can't fucking stand?
Nobody here and only one at TBBS. WF is built on the foundation of posters who can flame the shit out of each other without letting it get too personal (usually).
That seems just about right to me. I've got the Enty construct, the low grade prole trolls that followed henry hill over, and a couple of Zodiac personas on long term ignore. Others go on short term for one of two reasons: avoid the headbanging stupidiy (Hi Tas!, Hi JohnM) or, very short term of perhaps up to a day, when there's a long discussion that never quite reaches debate and is starting to degenerate into spam and flame, I find that a brief trip to the ignore list is the easiest way to simply let someone else have the last word and avoid further degeneration. In that case I'm using ignore more to enforce some self-control so that I won't post a worthless response than so I won't read a post. I also put rep-jihadists on ignore so they don't annoyingly clutter up the UserCP. They come off when the jihad stops
