I got a Peacock a week ago. His name is Jimmy! (after south park!) He has a bum leg that is twice as long as the left one, so he walks real funny, and the guy who owned him wouldnt kekeep him cause he was bad for breeding. I was like whatever, he is cool as shit! :shakes: He walks to the house every morning and yelps untill I bring him cheerios, fruit, bread...etc.... Also has a fasincination with my dogs

Nah, they are old and hard of hearing, and far away. So now I have a wood duck, which randomly showed up on property and I have no idea what to do with, a Silkie named Salt who hangs with the wood duck, and Jimmy the peacock. Along with crazy ass birds and dogs. I have my hands full

I just hope Sally Struthers doesn't start begging us to feed your orphan! I'm already sponsoring a family of red-winged blackbirds.

Word of advice: Keep your car int he garage from now on. A friend of my uncle owned peacocks, and they would jump on the hood of his cars after he'd come home to keep warm...and scratch the paint up in the process.

This is pretty cool, though. :)

So just out of curiousity what would you keep a peacock in during the winter? I've been trying to convince the hubs to help me convert one of the sheds into a chicken coop and get some chicken and turkeys and meat rabbits...but he won't let me :(

Keeps muttering something about how we would never actually eat the stuff and just become overrun with animals...

Its deffnetly easy to become over run. But its under control here. The chickens ar kept in smaller pens and 4 feet wide and 8 feet deep. The peacocks have runner pens about 8 feet wide and really freaking long (i cant remember dementions :lol) They like to roam around and can be pretty curious getting into stuff; Jimmy gets to come out during the day. Also he is seperated from the other ones because they pick on him :weep: and always try to kill him :weep: They are kinda loud. They make a "YELP!" sound. Oh, and I live in Georgia. So its hot as balls almost year round. but if you dont have it fully inclosed you can put up the big tarps

Problem solved - Shakes peacock can spend summers in Canada and winters in Georgia - everybody wins! Also it does have wings you know - it can migrate back and forth by itself.
