My Origami Diagrams

Here are the diagrams I made for my own origami creation: a griffin.

Anyone want to give it a shot?
I've had other people do well with no prior experience.
Don't worry about any terminology; you can probably follow along with just the pictures.

Don't be a wuss; try it!

1. Start with a preliminary base:

2. Unfold entirely:

3. Fold the four corners to the middle, so the colored side is on the inside:

4. Now fold that into a preliminary base:

5. Fold the sides to the center line:

6. Unfold, and reverse fold:

7. Pull out the corners on both sides:

8. Fold the front flap up:

9. Rabbit-ear the left side:

10. Repeat steps 5-9 on the other side, but do the rabbit ear on the right side:

11. Reverse-fold the long colored flap on the right up (this becomes the head):

12. Reverse-fold the other side up (this becomes the back legs and the point becomes the tail):

14. Double-rabbit-ear the flap:
Fold edge along this side, but only to the preexisting crease:

Push tail down, between legs:

15. Rabbit-ear front leg/front edge of wing (use the two layers of the wing, and don't include the head/neck in this fold):

16. Fold edge of leg down to bisect that 45degree angle of the big white triangle (it meets with the bottom edge):

the wing won't lie flat for the rest of the folding, but the leg will:

17. Outside-reverse-fold the back leg (if you inside-reverse fold, the leg will be white, you'll know)

18. Mountain-fold the leg backwards (not a reverse fold):

19. Reverse-fold the leg down:

20. Repeat steps 15-19 on other side:

21. Reverse-fold tail up:

22. Narrowing the neck: Fold the flaps to the inside:

24. Form the beak by folding it in and out:

25. Reverse-fold the front legs, if you wish:

26. Spread out the wings, adjust the legs so that it stands on its own, any other fine-tuning you think it needs:

I used to love doing origami, but I've sort of forgotten about it.

My first attempt at Origami happened completely by accident in second grade...we have all these square pieces of paper to make a class quilt, and I took one and folded it into a dog.

I was never more popular that year.
