"If the bourgeoisie of Venezuela continues to become desperate, and continues to try to undermine the Bolivarian people of Venezuela, they will continue losing their possessions one by one. One by one!"

I am shocked, SHOCKED I say to hear those words come from comrade Chavez. I thought he only stole in order to right wrongs and for the good of the people!

I for one do continue to become disappointed at translations in English news media.

That depends. Do you consider criticizing Chavez to be a "wrong" that needs to be righted, and suppressing critics to be "for the good of the people"?

Because it seems pretty clear that that's what he's talking about.

Judging by the crowds protesting Chavez's silencing of his critics, the growing-ever-more-desperate "bourgeoisie" seems to be quite a few people...

It is not. No critics have been silenced, and this has been explained to you previously, so quit with the straw man.
Nobody has an automatic right to a broadcasting license for the public airwaves.

So what you be saying if Bush suddenly "decided" that CNN should not have it's license renewed ? CBS, NBC, ABC? For broadcasting negative stories of him and/or the Iraq war.

I bet it wouldn't be "they aren't entitled to use the airwaves"

I bet it would be more along the lines of...

":ohnoes: OMGOMGOMGOMG BUSH IS TEH DICTATOR FOR LIFE!!!!!111111ONEONEELEVEN"

If CNN had played a part in a coup attempt against him - and thus had broken the conditions under which their license was issued - it would be exactly the same.

You aren't saying why it's bullshit. The very fact that it gets spun into lies about "silencing dissent" and "dictatorship" only goes to show that your side can't win the debate based on the facts.

Where the fuck is the CIA? They are going to let another Castro type dictatorship form right under our noses.

The CIA tried and failed. Chavez was reinstituted due to massive support from the Venezuelan public.

No doubt they are continuing to subvert and interfere with the government of Venezuela, through terrorism and other means.

The CIA has been funding terrorism for years, particularly in Latin America. Just when they do it, they call it "democracy promotion" and other nice things like that.

In the doctrinal system that has been adopted by the mass media and others, terrorism is something that the US by definition does not do and democracy is something they are always promoting, regardless of the facts on the ground.

No, I mean stuff like buildings blowing up and plane hijackings. Does that kind of stuff go on unreported in Latin America?

It gets reported in Latin America of course. That's why they're not so fond of you guys.

In the US media, it's generally not referred to, or brushed over with the weasal words I've just described. Check out "Luis Posada Carriles" involved in all sorts of terrorism, including the destruction of a Cuban passeneger airline, funded by the CIA and currently being harboured by the United States.

So in Latin America, they view the U.S. the same way Israelis view Hamas?

I am just going to point out that while I am definitely liberal, I do not associate myself with the likes of Henryhill, or Chavi

No, I'm not sure you can draw an exact parallel, especially since they'd also be so heavily be influenced by US culture, but there are elements of that, and that's why they're electing governments who resist the influence of the US.

EDIT: It'd also be worth having a read about Operation Condor.

So what of the critics who have been arrested for being critics? Have they not been silenced?

Perhaps you let us know who they are, and what specifically they've been arrested for saying, because I haven't heard of them.
