Having an issue. I have an .mp3 file that I'm trying to import into Flash CS6 for a final project in 2D Animation.

Flash won't import it-- it gives me a dialogue box that states, "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them." In my brief scouring of the internet for answers, I found that Flash CS6 apparently does not inherently support files over 165(ish) kbps. This file is above that. However, I have other files well above which will still import into Flash.

The supposed solution is to install a version of QuickTime that will handle the import via QuickTime's "sub-audio system." I don't know what this means, but I do know that my computer won't let me uninstall QuickTime because, "Error retrieving file security" (etc. etc.).

Any ideas on how to solve this issue without getting any more convoluted?

I'm not an expert in Flash as I've only done fairly simple websites on that platform, but from my non-expert opinion, I'd download Audacity, convert the file from an MP3 to a WAV, AIF, or whatever, then import that into CS6.

It seems maybe Flash isn't liking the 165kbps quality. It does seem like an odd quality, as most of the MP3s I've come across are 128 or 256. Maybe that's the problem. I don't ever remember it having a size limitation it won't import.

Audacity is a pretty good program. If you wanted to, I think you could import the MP3, change the bitrate to something lower and then save the new lower quality file as an MP3.
