Okay, I goofed up today when I picked up my new computer. I didn't need the old hard drive anymore so they pulled it out of my old shell and I placed it into one of those enclosures. I was thinking hey no problem, I'll just transfer the old files that I wanted off of it onto the new giant capacity hard drive that I have.

Well, I completely forgot that much of the files I was interested in transferring (mostly purchases from iTunes) are stored in my old owner/administrator directory. I can't access them because they are protected.

Does anyone know of a way around this type of protection?

Right click, Properties, Sharing & Security, enable Sharing & Security, Advanced, Edit, Add, type your account name, click OK, select your user name, check both of the boxes, click OK, click Owner, select your user name, click OK, then OK again.

I think that's how you do it. Been a while since I've done it. If any confirmation dialogs come up in there, just confirm them.

Close, but you have to do it from within safe mode on XP Home Edition.

Thanks for the tip. :) I was able to access what I needed.

Yup it is all good. I was able to retrieve what I was looking for. A big thanks goes to Powaqqatsi. He kind of turned me onto the right section of Microsoft.com that had the information.
