Sounds like the anti union types are saying the changes they want really aren't going to make any real difference to the workers, while at the same time saying they are absolutely vital to the economic health of the state. Sort of like "bend over this won't hurt a bit"...
If they were True Workers they would walk out of the bank and form a picket line in support of their fellow Workers. Uhhhh... That's all? Pfft. Personally I say more power to'em. I don't see how this behavior could generate any backlash. Unintended consequences in Wisconsin If public-sector unions continue to fight for concessions from states, American workers will pay the price
Just what kind of orgy with taxpayer money is going on in Wisconsin that firefighters have so much money they can crash banks with withdrawals? Who are the so-called "elites" again?
Seven million dollars worth of damage to the capitol? Really? What the fuck is wrong with these people? How fucking pathetic these asshats are. State should fire the lot of them. Every. Fucking. One. GooOOooOoo Unions!
They keep saying its a peaceful protest but damaging government property is not peaceful. These are thugs hired by the union and most of them are from out of the state.
The problem with that one is, isn't a fair number of those protesting and doing this people from outside of the state that the union's have brought in?
Wisconsin officials now say the cost to repair damage at the state Capitol could be as low as $350,000. Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch said the original $7.5 million estimate to repair marble damaged by adhesive tape from posters was a “high-end” estimate. An updated report from DOA said a majority of the nearly $350,000 would cover a crew to perform “very limited” restoration on marble as well as landscape restoration. LINK Oh, and something tells me the republican majority in the Wisconsin Senate is about to be reduced by one... Protesters who marched at the home of Wisconsin state senator Randy Hopper (R-Fond du Lac) were met with something of a surprise on Saturday. Mrs. Hopper appeared at the door and informed them that Sen. Hopper was no longer in residence at this address, but now lives in Madison, WI with his 25-year-old mistress. Blogging Blue reports that the conservative Republican's much-younger new flame is currently employed as a lobbyist for right-wing advocacy group Persuasion Partners, Inc., but was previously a state senate staffer who worked on the Senate Economic Development Committee alongside Mr. Hopper. Blogging Blue also reports that Mrs. Hopper intends to sign the recall petition against her husband. The petition has already been signed by the family's maid. Since he's now living out of district, I wonder if the recall will even be necessary. LINK
Eh, Scott Walker will get that money back in gold fillings of the corpses. Y'know, when he finally gasses the crowds. It's the way these things go.
Yeah, but the facts are slightly different than originally reported. But then the "truthiness" of the original $7.5 million means that it's the figure that won't ever go away. I wonder how that $350k compares to the cleanup cost of a patriotic parade?
Meh, doesn't matter. The wingnuts are already saying that it was a plant job by the Koch brothers. I will laugh my ass off if the recall efforts eventually fail. The teeth gnashing is already near epic proportions. I honestly think that if the efforts fail you will see a full on meltdown from the left.
When the hated, evil, vile Glen Beck had the 8/28 rally, the crowd left the mall in practically pristine condition. When the leftists rallied with John Stewart in October, the left a virtual wasteland of trash and litter than had to be cleaned up.
Couldn't have had anything to do with one crowd being twice as big as the other...of course, that claim doesn't come out until another one is debunked. I figured that would happen. It's kind of like playing whack a mole.
I think you enjoy the fantasy that it was twice as big so I'll leave you to it. Even if it were true it wouldn't account for the difference.
A couple of updates. Walker: Where are the union pickets outside the White House? Shame: Ignoring Death Threats to Wisconsin Politicians Is Media Bias
He's exactly right. Notably this has been pointed out numerous times in this very thread and, to my knowledge, not one union defender/Walker basher posters has attacked the white house on the point.
I'll try to rationalize... something something relative measures blah blah standard of bargaining to which they've become accustomed blah blah blah...
