If smug self-satisfaction could only be converted into original ideas, Hollywood wouldn't have to keep churning out re-used shit.

    This shit needs to end.

Escape from New Jersey could be a winner.

John Carpenter has said it's more of a prequel than a remake.

It's what Snake was up to before he gets sent to New York.

Did you know the the given name of the character code-named Solid Snake in the popular Metal Gear series is David Pliskin?

This is a direct referrence to the movie Escape From New York and the character Snake Plissken played by Kurt Russell. The series creator, Hideo Kojima, admits that EFNY is one of his favorite movies and that later character models for Solid Snake were based on the Snake character in the movie. The character Big Boss in the Metal Gear series also has a signature eyepatch like Snake Plissken from the film.

The Snake and the Pliskin are from Snake Plissken, and the David is from David Hayter, the man who voiced Solid Snake.

But yeah, heavy influence, even down to the hair.

Wasn't his full name given in Escape from LA as S. D. "Bob" Plissken?
