Nope. There was no writer named Maggs involved in "The Making of PROBE." They've got Data Holmes. Given the disparities in viewpoint of some of the characters they have banned (our two Fs, Face and Flashy, for example), "They banned me for my politics! " is a lame excuse. Figured you out, didn't they?
Yeah, I tried to log in, it didn't work. I got the following message: You have been banned for the following reason: No reason was specified. Date the ban will be lifted: Never
Err... no. Plenty of people, on both sides of the aisle, agreed that the cop appeared to be in the wrong and needed to be held responsible. Myself included among them. Most of us didn't, however, agree with the notion that this constituted proof that most everyone in law enforcement was a jack-booted thug of a government dead-set on enslaving us all. (Which is pretty much what Castle - and I guess you - were asserting.)
Personally, I tend to find the "you're old" trope to be the purview of the emotional 12-year-old, regardless of actual age.
I would say that most, if not all police departments train the meat heads to act that way, so in a round about way they are jack booted. Police forces are increasingly militarized because of 9/11 and such and as a result, they've become more, I don't know a proper term, "robotic"? They no longer recognize people as people, but more like cattle and they don't ask questions or think about their actions, they just do. Ok, so Castle uses hyperbole or exagerations, but his points are still clear and valid. He just says things in a way that puts people off.
It's still funny. As long as you are older than me, I will always find it funny. It's like fart jokes. My step-brother is six months older than me and I still tease him about being old.
Have you seen cops lately? Most of them are former military. Small cities have tanks for serving warrants. Have you watched the tv. show Cops? The treat people like cattle. Maybe I'm biased because I hate cops, but every time you get pulled over for speeding, they walk to your car with their hand on their gun. They require two other guys to assist them. You can't ask for directions without them placing their hand on their gun. Do you think that's the right way to treat the people who pay your salary. All I'm asking is don't assume I'm a criminal and talk to me like a human, not a perp.
Aaaaand... you're back on ignore. That didn't take long. I tried talking to you reasonably, but you just couldn't help yourself could you?
I'd say you're suffering from regional bias based on anecdotal experience. I'm probably biased in the opposite direction because I've got two family members and a number of friends who are LEOs. (Just scanning, I don't think any of them are former military except a few of the retired ones, and they'd be Nam vets, so draftees, not Rambo types.) Either way, not wise to judge an entire profession by a small sample size.
Law Enforcement Officer. P.S. If he's got his hand on his gun as he's approaching your car, it's because too many LEOs have been shot during traffic stops by the asshole in the car grabbing their gun.
In other words, they have been trained that way. Proving my point. How about assessing the situation first, not everyone is a thug.
You're Nowhere Man? What's with your selective memory? You completely melted down and started spamming up the forum with strange threads - which is against the rules - and in one of them you even say "My time is going to end tonight, I'm going to say something that will get me completely banned forever." Go run a thread search on your profile, it's all there. Some libertarian you are, can't even take responsibility for your actions on something as silly as an internet message board.
That action is part of assessing the situation. Kind of like the gun owner who hears a noise downstairs in the middle of the night. Do you think "Oh, I'll just go down there first and check it out and if it looks dangerous, I'll go back and get my gun"? Of course not. Ten or more officers a year are shot and killed during traffic stops. The FBI has the data, if you're curious. When you walk up to the blue-haired lady with the grocery bags in the backseat, you don't know whether or not she's got a 9 mm in her lap. Are you going to wait until she rolls down the window and shoves it in your face? Of course not.
See, now this is why you get no respect. You have taken a single incident, and extrapolated a pattern. Yes, you start with a fact, but then you assume more facts based upon the first, but without any additional evidence.
