Now where will I buy my Craftsman tool? The end is near for Sears.

imagine telling your grandchildren that, yes, there really used to be a store called Bed Bath and Beyond, it's not just a goofy name they made up during Simpsons season 78

Imagine also being able to tell those kids you can remember a time before The Simpsons.

That "Do it for her" scene is one that has gained meme status with the kiddos. I saw one kid who had never seen this scene in context and stated she never knew this show was so wholesome

"It's a boy! And what a boy he is!" "Uh, Mr. Simpson, that's the umbilical cord." is wholesome now? I'm having a bit of a moment, excuse me.

And nothing of value will be lost.

Subway was more oversaturated in locations than even Starbucks, it's a wonder they didn't go under sooner.

But I look forward to Jersey Mike's filling the void when they collapse tho.

I just looked it up, Starbucks has ~16K locations in the US, Subway has 20K.

    I believe it.

Lots of Subways around here are located inside convenience stores. I can't say I've seen a Starbucks like that.

At one time, Starbucks had locations in other stores, like either Border's or B&N had them operating out of their stores. Don't know if that's still the case or not.

Definitely B&N but that's the only place I saw them other than stand-alone stores. I used to go to one that shared a wall with a B&N until a drive-through location opened closer to my job.

Now I get coffee that's better and cheaper from a local chain that opened about three years ago.

Aren't subway locations individually owned franchises?

No. Like every fast food chain out there, some stores are corporate-owned, while others are franchises. The bulk of Subway stores are corporate.

My hometown had seven at my last count. Two of which were placed inside a Target and Safeway that were next door to one another :jayzus:

Eh, the news article I read said that it was a mixture. It’s not like anybody’s gonna die because I got that wrong. So, congratulations, FF, you managed to get the combination to Kirk’s safe right. So go do a couple of celebratory laps in your mobility scooter and get on with your life.

The news article you posted said nothing of the kind. Its analysis concludes nothing but good for the chain.

One lap is about all the battery can manage.

Radio Shack, unlike Jesus, is set to return.

I’m not sure how well they’re going to do, since it seems like they’re just going to be copying Best Buy’s model. It seems to me, though, that they have a real opportunity to have a solid brick and mortar presence if the Right to Repair laws go into effect in enough places. Not only could RS stores be repair shops and sell parts but they could also be Maker Space like places where they have classes you can take for how to repair something or how to build a PC, and unlike watching YouTube videos, you’re there where someone can answer your questions in real time. And, if turns out that you need a part or a tool while you’re there, they’ll be happy to sell you one.

You can get a mix for it at the grocery store. I know that sounds like it would be a disappointing imitation, but it's actually pretty good.

I'm tired of almost all fast food these days. Everything seems to taste the same, at least among the major chains.
