The Department of Justice has issued subpoenas to Nvidia and ATI (actually AMD who recently bought ATI), and are looking to investigate the companies for price-fixing with each other. While prices have been remarkably similar, its tough to tell whether or not this is the result of price fixing or of just competition. In 2002 the companies had their fastest top-end GPUs costing 400 dollars. In the last few years they have together worked their way up to $650. Frankly I think the DOJ won't find anything on these two companies, but I suppose if it leads to lower priced GPUs I won't complain. :IMHO!:
