In other words, Obama got beaten like he was a slave and doesn't want to go through that again.

Obama got beaten in the debates?

I have no idea what broadcasts you were seeing.

I think what he says reflects the thoughts of virtually all Americans who are likewise sick of these pointless and substance-less debates. No more debates. Fine. We won't be missing anything after all.

I'm not surprised. He was doing a lot better with hope, change, and ladies feinting with every finger point.

It's true that Obama hasn't been beaten in anything that can actually be called a debate.

I think he got his ass kicked in the 'Lets watch as Clinton's hacks ask him stupid questions for two hours'. An actual debate, with real questions? Fugheddaboudit.

They talked about gas prices for SIXTY SECONDS.

It would be hard for the inevitable parody debate on Saturday Night Live this weekend to be any more of a mockery than the "real thing" was.

If Israel and Palestine consented to a debate, and it was moderated by Syria and Iran, it would look something like last night.

I wouldn't expect Israel to consent to a second one. I'd question their judgment if they did.

Has there even been a debate in recent memory? A real one, that doesn't cut for thirty second soundbytes, but it so long and comprehensive that they have to post transcripts in newspapers.

    Something like Doulgas v. Lincoln.

Not really, no. Last night was just an unusually blatant example.

What passes for a debate in modern times is generally a waste of time.

    Not really, no.

I still sympathize with the citizens of Michigan, but the primary as conducted in January was simply too compromised to count.

That Hillary somehow asserted that it was fair enough to count, coupled with the shameless attempt to blame Obama if it wasn't, destroyed that tiny little morsel of respect I had left for her.

He might've bested the Hildabeast in the earlier debates but he looked just AWFUL last night. Hillary was prepared to deal with the questions about her sniper fables and that smoothness carried her through the whole debates while Obama, after stammering and doublespeaking his way through the tough questions, was never really able to gain his footing.

That Obama isn't as adept at politics as usual isn't going to be perceived as a minus by everyone.

Political "smoothness" doesn't impress me one bit. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Or maybe, he knows he's pretty much got the nomination in the bag, so he's not going to waste any more time showing up for pointless photo ops with the runner-up.

I don't see being so thrown by the media daring to throw tough questions your way (and considering that the previous debate had been with Chris "Obama sends a tingle down my leg" Matthews' network I can see how actual questions would surprise Barry O) that you compare a strongly pro-life Senator with an unrepentant terrorist as a good thing but I guess that's just me.

So which minute of the debate was Mark Penn mentioned again?

If a lapel pin is worth more airtime than the price of gas, then I suppose this qualifies as a debate for you :marathon:

I demand to know where lapel pins rank as an issue compared to other issues such as health care, the economy, illegal immigration, and Iraq :soma:

I think the fact that Obama admitted he didn't like the questions he asked demonstrates conclusively he lost this debate. He's been lucky. The media granted him a halo and didn't call him on shit for a long time. Now they are and it appears he can't handle it.

After all, K1A. The tax system isn't about revenue. It's about fairness.

I thought a lot of people (on both sides) didn't like the questions they asked.

Isn't there a whole thread about just that?

So I've been told each time I've had an increase in my annual income forcing me to change tax brackets. ;)

Apparently the top income earners of our country are actually some of the most fair people in the world considering how much they have to pay into the system. ;)

Considering that we've all heard both of them give their views and positions on the latter four issues many, many times in the past year I'd say the lapel pin issue actually ranks pretty high on the 'things of interest' list.

It's nothing to do with "things of interest", unless you're saying that lapel pins are a bread and butter issue?

Anyone who is struggling to make ends meet but still gives ample weight to whether someone wears a lapel pin deserves to starve to death :bergman:
