It seems that one of the films nominated is part of a plagiarism scandal. It's a long article, so I'll just quote a key bit Note that the guy who's claiming his work was stolen, is someone who's written a couple of popular movies ("Paddington 2" and "Luca"), while the guy who appears to have done the stealing, hasn't. Not to mention that there's a pretty unambiguous paper trail showing that the accused thief, did, in fact, have a copy of the script that he's accused of plagiarising.
