My personal favorite is "The Hanging Tree". "Big Iron", "Little Joe the Wrangler", "Cool Water" and "They're Hanging Me Tonight" are also :techman:

You know "Trail Songs and Gunfighter Ballads" was recorded in one day.
One...single...day. And the songs STILL sound better than these bozos today with all their production technology and money.

What's the name of it? And please tell me there aren't any goofy novelty songs or collaborations with hip-hop folk.

Best country remake EVER! Dare I say it......even BETTER than the original? Vocally it's an exact copy, but with better musicianship.
    The guitar solo is awesome.

Even if you don't like country, you cannot resist this song!
    Don't even try...you can't do it!

Who comes up with these clever, pun filled country songs?
They are some smart mo-fo's I must say.

"Thank God and Greyhound she's gone" is a cool title I must say! :)

Clay Aiken does a version. :(
    But so does Roy Clark! :) "I'm a pickin'...and I'm a grinnin'...."

So many people have covered "Tonight the Bottle let me down."
Even Elvis Costello did it (not so well.)

The best country song title (and song, even) that I ever heard was a couple of years ago. I was listening to one of the local college radio stations and their afternoon show (which plays a lot of Texas/Blues/Real Country/Zydeco music) played a song called, "I Can't Get Over Her Since She's Been Under Him".

I'd sure like to find out who the artist was, 'cause I want that CD!

I went to a Conway Twitty concert when I was a teenager. He was horrible- just sang, never talked or interacted with the crowd. He eber has been one of my favorite singers.

There will never be another... Patsy Cline.

Willie Nelson sent over a demo.
    Patsy - "I can't sing like that."
Owen Bradley - "Sing it like Patsy Cline."

"So, you want to be Kitty Wells."
"Hell no! I want to be Hank Williams!"

    It was a benefit concert.
Kansas City DJ Jack Call had died in a car accident.
A show was arranged to raise some money for the family.
The performers included George Jones and Dottie West.

Patsy Cline took the stage in a white dress.
She told the audience that she was thankful to be there.
She sang her hit songs, and her yet to be released single.
It would become the largest selling recording by a female country artist...
    ever.

    The Wild Side of Life

I didn't know God made honky tonk angels.
I should have known you'd never make a wife.
You gave up the only one who ever loved you,
and went back to the wild side of life.

Oh the glamor of the gay bright lights has lured you,
to the places where wine and liquor flow.
Where you wait to be anybody's baby,
and forget the truest love you'll ever know.
