It's a human fetus, not a human... It has no brain, no personality... It's a clump of brainless, characterless cells...
Well you do have a point and I agree sort of: That rape baby shouldn't be punished to death just because (as you pointed out) it will be a constant reminder of the rape, and it may not get the full love due it for obvious reasons. That said if there was a solid adoption plan in place for a rape victim it might make that victim more likely to carry that child. A loving couple could get a baby, the rape victim wouldn't have to bring even more tragedy into her life via taking a life, and of course the baby gets a good chance at a decent life.
You realize that roughly half of all fertilized eggs eventually miscarry (i.e. spontaneously abort)? And among those miscarriages, a lot of women don't ever realize they were pregnant? It takes more than some sperm swimming around in woman's uterus to make a baby. A fertilized egg is not automatically a human baby.
Yes that is correct, but you just made the point that life is indeed very precious, and needs all the help it can get - so why deliberately abort when getting that far in the reproduction process is hard enough?
Sure, why not? That child will have no knowledge of it's origins anyway. Of course I probably wouldn't meet the standards for adoption anyway, at least here in the US. A moot point now though, since I already have kids & grand kids.
You are aware (I'm sure) that you yourself were a "clump of cells" many years ago, right? And not just any clump of cells, but a human - with homo sapiens DNA (mostly) and destined to be a functioning human being, the most intelligent species this planet has ever seen. Millions/billions of years of evolution went into making Kilometres O' Brien and you call yourself a clump of cells? Damn that's pretty sad.
Abortion isn't "birth control." Birth control, as it's commonly understood, means "contraception." As in, preventing conception. Abortion is post-conception, the barbaric slaughter of an unborn child.
But you recognize that there is a point at which something is clearly a clump of cells and clearly a human being? What is that threshold for you? We are made from our mother's egg and our father's sperm. You seem to believe it occurs at some point around conception. So at which stage are we human beings? 1) Sex: Father ejaculates into the mother 2) Pre-Fertilization: Sperm enters the mother's ovum 3) Fertilization: The nucleus of the sperm and ovum fuse, creating a single-celled zygote 4) Cleavage and blastulation: the zygote undergoes mitosis, turning into a multi-celled embryo after a few days 5) Implantation: the embryo attaches to the lining of the uterine wall after 6-12 days. This creates the connection with the mother in order to supply the embryo with nutrients and oxygen. 6) Fetal stage: after about 8-9 weeks, the fetus has developed, and it has recognizable development of organs and begins taking on more human-like features. 7) Gestation: the fetus continues to develop over the next several months. 8) Third trimester: the fetus becomes viable to survive outside of the mother's womb, albeit on life support to some degree. This is typically the cut-off point for when a fetus clearly crosses the threshold and becomes a viable human being. 9) Birth: [irrelevant since it is now a fully separate human being]
about number 4 would be my own personal watermark of human life. Regardless, once you get to number 6 it's a "done deal" and the train is no doubt on the tracks and rolling. It's official.....it's a pregnancy. But yeah if that mass of cells has an actual shape and it on it's way, it's a tiny human. If you want to abort, deal with the fact that you are indeed killing a human.
Current board events aside, you've been here almost day one. Being insulted is part of the WF experience. Quit acting surprised by it.
I don't know if there's any truth to the whole slut shaming/punishing loose women argument, but if there is...it seems kinda backwards. Most of the super slutty women I know are a bit ghetto and generally have all those babies. Friend of mine's sister is under 30 and currently pregnant with her 8th. Seven baby daddies.
