Call it what you wanna call it, the man is a genius for getting those rich people to part with their money for some stitched leather, buttons and zippers that at most are $50 worth of raw materials.
Right, because an iPhone is the equivalent of a 38,000 dollar hand bag. Congrats, I hear Windows phone added another 100 users this quarter.
Appeal to the masses, really? Hundreds of thousands of people thought the pet rocks price was fair. Doesn't mean they weren't overpaying for the product.
I actually have to agree with what you said. Blacks have grown very thin-skinned since the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's and whites have adopted a level of submission to guilt and political correctness that is nauseating. There seems to be a new victimhood that has arisen in the black community and unfortunately it seems to be driven by profit. Take Al, Jesse, and the NAACP for example. And the SPLC. These people have made promoting faux racism a very profitable industry when the black community actually does have some very serious internal cultural problems right now that require some serious leadership, but blacks aren't getting it and haven't really had any since the death of MLK. Even Oprah herself in an interview recently referred to "millions of lynchings" of blacks in America when the real number is only about 4,000. That's still 4,000 too many, but people hear Oprah and believe her, and it has a false and negative influence on peoples' perceptions of history and race in America. Yet, on matters of teen pregnancy and school dropouts remaining in poverty, kids growing up without a father in the picture, drug use, educational excellence, black on black violence, the gangsta culture, things that are real problems in the black community, Al, Jesse, Oprah, and the NAACP remain eerily silent.
I think when the 4,000 is down to 40, we can start to talk about whether blacks are thin skinned. In the mean time, they still suffer an unacceptable level of racism.
Again with your Apples to Oranges comparisons. I see the appeal in Android and iOS, and to a lesser extent in Windows 8 Mobile. I prefer iOS because it works, is really clean, and I am familiar with it. iPhones are really nice too, they aren't the best spec'd phone currently, and I'm still using an older one, but it works so well I have no reason to want a new phone. I bet I still have this phone for 2 more generations before I upgrade. The only other phone that appeals to me right now is the Lumia with the 41 megapixel camera, but there is more to a great picture than megapixels.
How? Are blacks being denied an education in America? Do they have to sit in the back of the bus? Are they paying a poll tax? I've lived in the South for 55 years and I've never seen a sign that says "Whites Only". Trayvon Martin and Charlie Rangel are on the record calling white "crackers". What makes that an acceptable level of racism?
Muad Dib HA! Everyone's a comedian. These things are red herrings, they don't matter - because past injustices/racism caused them! It's the "trump card" set on infinite repeat that never wears out. Why pull out the rest of the deck when you have the magic card? Let's pretend slavery never caught on here in America. Let's say every person of African descent came here on their own, like they do now as do all other immigrants. Holy shit, blacks would be on equal footing with Irish, Italians, Indians (dot, not casino) Chinese, Mexicans, etc. Lots of competition there! None of these people have a trump card - nobody but themselves to blame for their current status in American society. Something to ponder indeed.
Even some of the Irish were brought here by the British as white slaves. I have Irish ancestry. :ireland: Whitey is keeping me down.
Has the unofficial use of the term "cracker" resulted in Muad's being denied housing or a job or had some other material impact on his life? Has he been stopped for Driving (or Walking) While White? Or was he just home with head lice the day the rest of the third grade learned about "sticks and stones"?
Don't dodge. You said the customers were being "duped" into buying the bags - as is deceived, misled, defrauded. Yet you didn't say how the customers were being deceived. Now you're changing your story to say the salesman is a "genius." I think when Ophra Winfrey walks in and throws down 38k (pocket change for her) on a handbag worth maybe $20 in raw materials, she knows EXACTLY what she's doing. She knows she paying 38k, and she's doing it because she's Oprah Winfrey, and she CAN.
