A few articles on the current 'war' against file-sharing.

First of all, Tom Feeney, fuck you. You're in the pocket of all the big record companies so what you have to say on this subject is worthless.

Second, the RIAA strategy is mind boggling. Trying to wring cash out future generations of Americans through lawsuits... that is gonna come back and bite them in the ass.

Especially since youths are the ones you are supposedly targeting with their current line up of 'all star' artists like Brittney Spears and 50 cent. It's not old people who flock to see Akon and Jessica Simpson. It's the kids you are suing and threatening to expel from college.

And the one article made a valid point. You think college kids won't figure out how to get around your copy protection schemes? You are just gonna give them the initiative to get off their lazy, pot smoking asses and start hacking your shit up.

They've handled the whole file sharing thing badly since the very beginning. Apple got wise and is profiting with iTunes. But the record companies themselves know that the music CD market is dying out... and they refuse to change with the times.

If RIAA was smart theyh'd tap into the growing demand of the MP3s instead of their bullshit fighting downloaders, they'd make more money. There is a huge demand for it.

Yet they're fighting the demand and encouraging congress to act on their behalf.

    Hmmmm.....

When a body becomes anti-progress, it ceases to be capitalist, but a fattened royalist fiefdom out to mindlessly suck power at the cost of everything.
Like a cross between Baron Harkonnen, Jabba, and the baby space whale from TNG.

Time for the RIAA to go the way of whalers and buggy whip salesmen.

    IMHO.
