P90X? Anyone? I have it. Just never bothered to use it. I read alot about the program, and never new if it was all hype. I guess in conjunction with a gym workout and diet it might be worth it... Anyone ever try it?
Two folks I work with (both middle aged, one male one female) did the program. I have my own program and blow them both out of the water, despite being the oldest and least athletically built. Here's the bottom line, from Yours Truly who was paid to stay in shape for 23 years: it's like any "program" in that THEY ALL WORK if you stick to them and give 100 percent. Cross Fit, Kick-boxing, Boot Camp style, etc. etc. all have merit but you have to have self-discipline. There's is no magic or short-cut. Any program works in which: 1. You expend more calories than you take in 2. You exercise SAFELY and start out gradually 3. You have fun! If it's not fun, you won't give 100 percent
I have a friend who swears by it and is also into running. He's type A (read gung-ho) but also enjoys both so he's getting good results. In short, I'm going to have to agree with oldfella here. Find a good program you like and stick with it. Otherwise, you'll get bored and quit.
Matter of fact, stick out the 90 Days and then.....choose another program and stick with it for the designated period. Your body won't know what hit it! :santa_ok:
That's a good point. While you do have to stick to programs for a good while, there will come a time when you have to mix it up to get your body out of the rut it will become stuck in. It's going to adapt and will always strive to find the easiest way to do anything while storing the most calories as fat.
See thats what I kind of like abouth the program...(granted, even after this post I havent unwrapped the damn box lol) Im a gym rat by nature. Im family. 6 days a week. Its sad actually, a couple weeks ago I got the flu... not a soul from my family called but my gym noticed and managed to get in touch with me But now Im deprived, because Im at the gyms daycare time limit, but still feel the need for more wondering the effect of adding p90x too my reg workout would equal...
I've read and saw all the promotional hype for this, but don't know anyone whos done it. Will be interested to see if you stick it out and what results you get.
Tru dat! 90 percent of mankind's existance we busted our asses just to get enough calories to survive. Hell, a lot of the world does that still. It's a survivial mechanism for your body to do things the most efficient way.
Negative. I have my own routines. More power to you, though. As others have said, hopefully you're ignoring the hyped claims of "amazing results you couldn't possibly get on your own". The benefit of flashy exercise fads like these is keeping you interested enough to stay on it long-term.
Last night on the radio I heard an ad for a "diet" program where you lose 20 pounds in 10 days or something. Yeah, like that won't be all water weight and muscle lost. Damn there are some dumb asses in this country.
I have P90X. I do it a lot, on and off. It works. It has lot's of variety and is comprehensive (total physical wellness) in its scope. However, it has been suggested to me that if you work out for an hour, seven days per week, while keeping a reasonable diet, of course you're going to get results. That being said, P90X is effective because it isn’t a gimmick or a “shortcut.” It’s three months of daily grueling work. Most people I know give up after a week.
I did a hour on the StairMaster today after a 45 minute leg workout Smoke Checked..... You can go ahead and cut my legs off now
