Paladin is a fan of the watering the tree of liberty train of thought right? The fact he doesn't go down that path and allows the government to take his taxes must mean he consents to US taxation.
The problem here, on both sides of the debate as I see it, is an unwillingness to accept shades of grey or nuance. Human sexual relationships are complex. Trying to force everything into two categories of "freely given explicit consent" and "rape" is a fools game. There's an area in between for sleazy fuckers like Trump to exploit, which can also involve differing interpretations of the same event, unequal relationships and so forth.
Yeah, which leads to the major issue. Many people look at the arguments and think "if those things are rapey, then I and other men have been rapey", which human nature as it is where we tend to think of ourselves as good leads to "...so I guess those things can't be rapey"
The problem I have with people like @Paladin and how they interpret things is summed up in being complicit. Being complicit does not mean you are raping people. What it does mean is you do undermine the claims of people who do, and your silence and lack of opposition actually is part of the wall of humiliation and intimidation of the victims. To take the present Biden case. A large number of people for many reasons have chosen to defend Biden over the years. That defense has been against reade. even if they just looked the other way, no one stood up for what is right, allowing the people doing wrong to attack her without hesitation. I will be the first to admit some of those complicit people have good reasons for doing what they did. If you are working for Joe's campaign his reputation is your job security. All of those people working for him lose if his reputation makes it so he is unelectable. That would make it a hard choice for some. It might even make them angry at the victim when they really should be angry at joe. Maybe some of them feel that some girl's encounter with joe was semi consensual so why should their job or even his campaign be threatened. Those people need to get a good look at the reality of her situation because she signed up to do a job, and joe biden used his position to ram his fingers inside of her body. Every one of the people who are defending him and looking the other way are complicit. every person who has looked the other way at sexual harassment, inequality, racism, homophobia, and other prejudices is complicit. I am complicit in destroying the careers and lives of racist people. I can live with that. Perhaps the reason people like @Paladin who are complicit in rape, molestation, and sexist culture know that is a fact, and they know it makes them sleazy.
That is some great verbal gymnastics to try to get off of paladin's side of the line after you supported a person with a sleazy reputation and his excuses. The next time you might not want to back up his words based on a technicality you fail to explain. It is just a peice of advice for when you end up on the side of slime. It is something your friends will have to do with you because you are a slimy little cunt. It is something friends of @garamet have to deal with on a constant basis too. It is one of the reasons I make sure people know I don't like you, or think you are a decent person. I did not rush to defend paladin despite him making a seemingly innocent statement because I know he is a complicit sexist. That is why this was a good troll because we all knew Paladin would get sucked in and say some dumb ass shit that was rapey and slimy. You seem to have nothing inside of you that told you to wait before rushing in to defend rapey grandpa. Now you are dancing and backpedaling like dayton kitchens. Defending a scumbag will make you do that.
