PS5?!? Motherfuckers. I finally got rid of my PS3 and just preordered the PS4 Last of Us Part II Special Edition console, due out next week. It was $499.99. (In Canadian dollars, which works out to about four bucks U.S.) Sony sucks.
Did the reveal event actually show what the console / hardware will look like or was it just a game demo / showcase?
And the Spider-Man sequel! Focusing on Miles Morales - I'm cool with that, we didn't get to actually play him with his powers in the first game as he was still training. I do hope they don't kill Peter in this one, though... too much with him having lost Aunt May in the first one, been betrayed by his hero AND having his friend on the force turn killer... Maybe have him off with the Avengers?
This is going to be ready by Holiday season 2020? That would be remarkable if this is a full game. Is it possible that this is a standalone DLC length add on to the first game? Insomniac is a very prolific studio but that would mean that they turned over a AAA game in a little over 2 years while delivering 3 DLC's for the first one. What ever it is, I'm on board.
It's worth noting that the of the models shown,1 has a UHD Blu ray drive for games and movie media and the other is a disc less system made for downloading your games to the SSD only. Hopefully it will be a little cheaper than the UHD one?
Well, some of the DLCs were stuff that was cut from the original release, so they were WIP on day one. The release trailer suggests the weather effects weren't possible on the PS4, so this does seem to be a new game, but possibly not expanding much beyond the system of the old one except better graphics and new storyline (Miles' VA in the first game isn't hugely in demand outside of playing Miles in various Spidey franchises, so easy to do the lines).
The price was leaked and quickly taken down. https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikka...d-release-date-leaked-by-amazon/#3d5306221fa9
After having last played it on PS3 I would be tempted to double dip for a PS5 re-release just for how great the fast travel/character switching will feel with that SSD.
My guess was always around the $499 mark... When I saw that it was 2 skus, I said $449 and $499. Playstation made the mistake of announcing the PS3 at $599 at the 2006 E3, an event now infamous. I always thought it would be a mistake to approach a price remotely close to that point even though it's been 14 years. We shall see.
