https://www.politico.com/newsletter...2/06/kamala-harris-is-bluetooth-phobic-495343 if you must read the original. This is one of the rare times where the Twitter reactions are less awful than the original reporting. TL;DR Kamala Harris is rightfully (as anyone working even tangentially to infosec knows) leery of the security of Bluetooth headphones, as someone who could be taking sensitive calls or listening to secret audio. And Politico has the audacity to not only publish this story, but to not do the most basic research on the topic before doing so, relying on the untimeliness of the office of VPOTUS in responding to a massively stupid inquiry on the topic to pooh-pooh the whole notion. There's no excuse for this. Having a different target audience from most political reporting doesn't excuse or even explain this. At best, it's stupidly creating controversy for its own sake with a large side of laziness (Google "bluetooth security issues"; warning, don't do so if you want to be blissfully ignorant using your AirPods ever again).
My hearing aids link to my phone through bluetooth. I hadn't thought of security issues with them, but then I'm not privy to national security secrets.
I mean, if your audio doesn't include national security secrets and you're not worried about anyone tracking you that's just fine. But if you are (or should be), then yeah, the concern makes all the sense.
Politico seems to have it in for Harris. This isn't the first bizarre hit piece or inexplicable phrasing choice they've made involving her. Though it's nowhere near as bad as the concern-trolling "analysis" pieces that The Hill loves to fill my Facebook timeline with.
I'm not sure how much of it is Harris actually being awful, and how much is the media not being able to stop itself from trying to undermine prominent women.
I’ve seen so many of those pieces that if the Republicans don’t pick up 60+ House seats next year it should be viewed as a failure.
I'll make sure to cancel my Politico subscription post-haste. But I'm still giving a small bonus to the delivery boy because it's not his fault.
Politico claims with no evidence that Justice Sotomayor was out dining with Dem senators. In fact, it was Schumer's wife.
