    I seem to recall the developers had originally made the boss battle much harder, but decided that it didn't really fit with the game, so they went with something simpler.

    Makes sense really, Portal does have its tricky moments in trying to actually carry out complicated actions but by and large it is a conventional puzzle game where most of the challenge comes from figuring out the solution to any situation you are presented with.
