    anyone ever used a powerbreathe?

    bought one online yesterday, along with a swiss ball, and wondered if anyones got any experience?

    It's called a spirometer usually. :lol:

    They use them to improve lung capacity in patients with repiratory ailments. This one is designed for retail, but it's essentially the same device.

    It forces you to breathe deeply and teach yourself control. I've found it did help somewhat, and helps a lot when I am recovering from something like pneumonia.

    Just be careful though, because if you don't pay attention or overexert yourself to can cause yourself to hyperventilate. And if this does have resistance, be careful with your ears..the pressure can effect them, specially if you've had an infection or a perforated eardrum.

    Just listen to your body. If you get dizzy, breathless, pain whatever...stop.
