Question about WiFi range of Laptops

    Often I see a couple of guys in the train station with their laptops. I dont think the station has any WiFi connections, but I noticed these guys all had this thing sticking from the USB side port with that looked something like a range antennae of some sort.

    What is the correct name for these and which ones are the best to buy?

    Those are probably broadband access cards... basically, a cellphone for your laptop to connect to the internet. Your cellular provider probably has them. I opted for the wi-fi because my cell co. AT&T, wanted $59.99/mo. for the service....that's basically another cell phone plan.
