Y'all know about the little quote box at the top of the forum index page. Personally, I hate it and I have it disabled where I don't have to look at it. That's the primary reason I let Chris handle moderating all of the submissions.

Is this something y'all want to keep? I'm not really thinking about getting rid of it, but is anyone actually fond of it?

Some are pretty good. I like the option of saving certain quotes, which has been gone since the upgrade.

Some are waaaaayy too long. That's why I recently turned it off. The Diacanu post about fruit flavored vaginas kept coming up over and over. :bang:

It should also be known that there are a few quotes which are obvious frauds. If they are indeed moderated, a more careful job needs to be done. :garamet:

I just took over the moderation of new submissions. I won't make any promises, but I'll do what I can. Also, if y'all want to let me know about ridiculously long quotes, that's fine. I'll review and remove them as necessary.

    I did a quick check. Take a look at #1054 and #1055.

I disabled it long ago...mostly due to some of the damn things being several paragraphs long.

I have no sentimental fondness for the feature...even the one's I made. :garamet:

I disabled it once it moved to the top. I liked it when it was at the bottom.

Get rid of it. I've never had it active. When I did have it active half the time the quote was a page long and i had to scroll.

We have a thread for memorable quotes in The Archive.

I think that is one thing TK does better. The QOTW where the staff just posts something funny/memorable in the box for a week or so and then adds it to the thread where all the previous QOTWs are archived.

I see no reason to keep it as we have it. It's kind of fun, but I usually see a small sampling over and over again taking a lot of the enjoyment out of it.

    I like it.

I agree that there are a few quotes that are too long. (My personal rule-of-thumb: If you can't see the box for the Red Room when you've scrolled all the way up top and the browser is maximized, it's probably too long. Or at least too big.) There are also a few that are duplicates.

    #1149 - too long?

    #948 - too long?

    #1186 - too long?

#990 - this and #991 are the same quote; axe this one as somebody has rated the other version

#1031 and #1033 - same quote; axe either one
