    Raindrops

    Raindrops, raindrops falling down,
in the morning dew they drown,
a thirsting blade of grass they fill,
and bend the mighty trees to their will,
drops of wind and children's tears,
    postcards, fields and lament endears,
    raindrops filling every space,
    ocean's gold and nature's lace.
    Raindrops, raindrops falling down,
    ev'n upon His thorny crown.
Why should ever the rain stop falling?
    Falling down upon the ground,
    marking passage of the years,
rain upon our hopes and fears,
and in death we find solace,
the rain's alight upon our face.
