I'm not sure what episode of either TNG or DS9 has a Ferengi member in Starfleet that you might be referring to. My memory says Nog was indeed the first, and the Internet seems to agree with me.

    https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Nog

It's certainly possible that there was a Ferengi officer who participated in some capacity on the Enterprise-D without being an actual member of Starfleet. See, for example, T'Pol being aboard Archer's Enterprise without being a Starfleet grad, or Kurn having been on the Ent-D through an exchange program with the Klingon Defense Force.

I noticed it in this video I was watching the other day. It's at the 26:34 mark and looking at it again it looks like the the episode "Future Imperfect" so it doesn't count. Never mind.

There was a Ferengi bridge officer in Future Imperfect, but they were part of a simulation created to trick Riker and thus never really existed. :async:

Man, it's tragic that Nog never got to serve under Picard onscreen, since Picard fuckin' despised Ferengi, while Nog was this big dreamer (and future Captain!) that abandoned the family business to join Starfleet just like Picard did. It would have been a humbling and educational experience for Picard.

That video is just about production mistakes like visible boom mics or having the wrong deck number on the turbo lift when a crew member clearly is leaving Ten Forward. Things like that.

So this randomly came up while scrolling youtube.

I will be honest, I have never a single episode of Lower Decks and have only seen maybe the first 2 episodes of Discovery.

I only know of Mariner from the SNW crossover. Not really interested in either show.

But, damn, these two women are gorgeous! Especially Tawny Newsome. Need to look her up. I remember liking her character from the crossover episode.

    "The Offspring".
    Lal choses her gender!
    Wokism!
    :soma:
    Anyway!
    Everyone's just cool with it.
There's no contrarian prick ensign going "I refuse to play your games! :bailey:".
    Maybe in the Pureflix version.
Oh, wait, Pureflix can't make a Trek knockoff, because no one would watch it, because Pureflix sucks.

Yeah, okay, fellas; and the J'naii government was just the J'naii government, and not the Trump supreme court.

The J'naii government was right, Soren was delusional, and Riker was stupid to indulge them. Right?

    Gender isn't biological sex.

It's why some cultures have managed to have more than two genders for quite a while, but the West somehow shits its collective pants at the prospect as it's unable to make the distinctions between gender, morphological sex and biological sex, despite all three being distinct properties in modern society.
